I recently "inherited" a 6' equipment rack from the widow of a SK buddy of mine and am in the process of sanding/painting the thing. Hard work, even when power tools are used. Picked up four cans of black satin enamel last evening and hopefully will get to shoot the thing today - between rain drops.

The finished project is going to get one of twenty "Cubic Kilowatts" installed, along with Mackay Marine 3030AR and 3031A HF receivers. It will go in the basement shack, which is actually a euphemism for "I've nowhere else to put my rack-mount stuff so they're getting stuffed into this rack!"

Pictures forthcoming.

Back to sanding.

When someone says ''rack'' I assume they mean metal for some reason and then I think about sandblasting.

Good luck! Those things are painted in such a way they are a pain in da arse to get paint off... It's like dyed-metal or something...

Beat me to it! GMTA

Guess it would be tasteless to point out it came from a widow, so I won't.

Managed to get the painted rack down the stairs with 'DSG's help. Need to make some mounting channels for the various equipment that will be installed. PS-7R power supply to be mounted first and I'll try to take a photo or two in the next couple days.

Big project will be the restoration of the 1500ZR amplifier and the accompanying Astro 150R transceiver. That still has to be done.

A rack like that deserves a 4x1 modulated by a pair of triode-connected 4x1's. You'll rule the band!

I have two other 57" tall racks available for just such an application. This project was done more to free up space and store existing equipment than anything else but it'll be nice to actually use the stuff whilst tinkering in the shop!
