View Full Version : 4m in the U.S?
No, not yet. But you East Coast folks may want to listen in this summer for a beacon that will be operating 24-7 on 70.005 MHz.

It would be an interesting band. Maybe one day, especially now that the bulk of analog VHF TV is QRT (some LPTV not withstanding)...
Offhand, does anyone know why that 4 MHz sliver between Channels 4 & 5 was left in place? I know that the Class C CB... excuse me Radio Remote Control Service uses a few frequenices up there for model airplanes, or at least did, but beyond that...

That spectrum space—72-76MHz—was allocated for "manufacturing, remote control, eavesdropping equipment etc." Some wireless mics and assistive aids for the deaf work in that band.
