Last Thanksgiving we helped our daughter finish moving into her new place in Austin. There was a HEB down the street, and we hit it often. Never been in one before. Kinda reminds us of the Frys stores around here. Pretty friendly folks in that part of Tx, too.

BTW... H-E-B = Herbert E. Butt

That would explain the crack in the front of the store instead of doors.

"John 3:16" is printed in small text on the bottom of soda cups, milkshakes point to "Proverbs 3:5," and burger wrappers bear "Revelation 3:20."

Corny as Iowa in August, if you haven't memorized the Bible chapter and verse look them up.

I wonder... how does In N Out get away with printing bible references on their cups in California, where it's illegal for a business to show a religious or political preference????

It's illegal only when it comes to making hiring/firing decisions. Anything else would be a first amendment violation.

I'll take a Whataburger, a Waffle House, a Taco Bueno, and a Luby's please. When I was stationed in Wichita Falls, there was an awesome little restaurant called "Waffle Time", much like a Waffle House, and looked like it had been there since the '60s. Unfortunately the Denny's across the street ran them out of business during the time I was there :(

I know that Waffle House would have to make changes to their usual building design in order to comply with
California helth codes (wall between kitchen and dining areas), but I would almost bet money that Waffle House would do good.in CA.

That would actually ruin the charm of going to a place like waffle house.

There are plenty of restaurants in California with open kitchens.

Yeah, but maybe you wouldn't have to leave there smelling like the whole menu.

I always thought it was cool that I could watch the guy prepare my order right in front of me. And you better believe that on my last deployment when we made a stop at Charleston AFB, SC (I'm originally from NC) there was a late-night Waffle House trip on the itinerary
