Upgraded the Acer Travelmate 7720G to 4 gig memory.
XP-Pro said i have 3 gig W 7 sees all 4 as expected.
Rating under W 7 is 5.4 decent enough for a aalmost 3 year old dual core Centrino processor.

I understand the limit of the 32 bit system to use the 4 Gig memory, adding switches in the boot.ini won't help.

I'm not so concerned about XP-Pro, still use it a lot, and W7 Pro which is my second boot O.S. system will only benefit from going from 2 to 4 gig.

The laptop is my personal computer used 8 - 10 hours a day, so it's holding up good.

Normally i buy a new laptop every 4 to 5 years but this one could last longer.
Just browsing forums, news, the odd photo enhancements etc, no gaming since years though, last games i played were Duke Nukem, Hexen, and Doom versions till 7 years back lol....

The videocard is a 3d card 512 MB mem, it can cope with decent games, but never used it for it.'
Keeping the laptop clean inside, remove dust every 2 months is a must, including heatpipes, ventilators, heatsinks, etc.
Thinking about putting in the new fangled H.D. in the second slot, the solid state drive 60 Gig? would speed up things considerably, saw it at my M8 booting up W7 Pro in 15 seconds flat with 16 gig memory in his new quad core lappie :mrgreen: ( I 7)

If you wanted to relive your game life (Duke Nukem, Doom, Hexen), you can still can.
Duke Nukem - eduke32.com, for Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, FreeBSD, several handhelds
Doom, Hexen - dengine.net, for Windows, Linux, Mac OS X

Thanks Paul, have the original games on CD here, the latest Hexen even unopened ;)
Demands for the computer and O.S. were a lot lower then ;)

Will have a look at your "link" and see what's up there.

Cheers,
Have a drink at the Island bar on my tab please ;)

Since Duke Nukem and Doom code has been released to the public, new game engines have been written for them to be used on new and different operating systems. eduke3d improves the performance and graphics, giving Duke Nukem the same feel and look as Unreal Tournament - big graphics improvement, greater graphic detail. Plays in a window or full screen - optional, resolution up to 1280x1024

Same with Doom, resolution up to 1600 x 1200.

Fixed that for you.

BTW, I'm still holding out for Duke Nukem Forever.
