Thanks for the videos. You can sense the "Pucker" factor of each of the videographers.

Be kind of cool if some of the dop data could be time/location synced and superimposed on top of a few. Also a thermal recording vid would be interesting. Must be a proverbial butt load of data perspectives out there on this event. Be interesting to see if a new level of predictabilty out of all this would be significant in reducing loss of life...The event here in 88 here occurred at nighttime and virtually no one had a clue. We now get a phone call from WRAL when our locale is under threat...not that if a phone call would have helped that much in direct path of something like this.
By the time you hear the train, it is somewhat a coin toss unless you are in or even have a bunker.

There are neat to watch, Like about a minute or two. Then you remember the tornadoes you witnessed and then you turn it off.

There is a notable lack of fundamentalist with their usual Wrath of God comments.

It takes time to convert digital streams to crayon for the Hellpainting crowd.
I'm sure someone somewhere is working on it.

Yeah, my weather fear upgrade was installed on April 3rd, 1974 in Huntsville, AL...and as I understand it, our own Island Godfather was up on Monte Sano Mountain looking down on the carnage I was underneath. The software upgrade was a complete success BTW.

Guys,

Let's not turn the makings of a good thread into a religious/political flamefest.

SPC's "Storm reports" timeline shows this low pressure/frontal system affecting the south with severe weather for at least 5 days ( 4/23 to 4/28 ). I wonder if they'll classify the "outbreak" as spanning all 5 days or just the 27th? Regardless, it's bigger in terms of total tornadoes than even the so-called "Super Outbreak" of '74.

milti-day outbreak what people keep saying. IIRC over the 5 days texas, oklahoma, lousiana, arkansas, missouri, illinois ,indiana, ohio, kentucky, tennessee, missippi, alabama, georgia, south and north carolina, and virginia had at least 1 tornado over the 5 days

Especially when we all know that tornadoes have nothing to do with God's Wrath and everything to do with the proximity of mobile home parks.

! My mother and I were in a tornado once. We were in a mobile home, and I think God must really hate mobile homes, Andy, cuz tornadoes always attack them first. They get very mobile.

And mobile homes are smotherin' my Keys
I hate those bastards so much
I wish a summer squall would blow them all
The way up to fantasy land
Yeah they're ugly and square, they don't belong there
They looked a lot better as beer cans
