The other driver was faulted but ... looking for input. Our truck is being declared totaled after it was considered fixable.

That's a case of current market value vs repair cost.

The Edmund's value does not reflect the reality of the cost of a truck of the same year being offered for sale at a dealer OR a private sale with similar mileage.

Try the NADA value, it's usually closer than Edmunds.

Thanks. Trying to use their site but they keep pointing me towards new vehicles.

In my area so far, to replace it with the same year with similar mileage and V6&automatic is running between 5800 to 6000. However, they are few and far between with most listings in NC and Georgia. Same for Craiglist. We were not at fault, we also had no monthly payments as it was paid for. The cheapest one is in GA at 4100 and 250,000 miles, was a fleet vehicle.
The other drivers ins company is Geico.

Yessir, NX6D has been in the biz for years.

Depending, you may be able to get more from your insurance than you think, but it might take a lawyer.

After the motorcycle accident, I now carry a strong under-insured/uninsured motorist rider on my policy.
By bundling, with multiple vehicles and more coverage on my renters policy it does not cost that much.

Here in Miss'ippi , possibly in other places , there used to be a little-known bit of law that said that the option to repair/replace/pay book value belonged to the insured , not the insurer . Knowing this was a really useful advantage in certain circumstances .

Very sorry to hear this.

I can make an inquiry with our Personal Lines or Claims people, but I don't know how much they'll know about the laws of your state.

I was briefly looking at some trucks at a local Dodge dealer. Price research for used but ... 46 to $50K for a 2011 Dodge Ram pick up. WT FREAKIN F!
And these were REDUCED! I didn't stick around long enough to ask why they were so damn special. 10 years ago Ram pick ups were maxing out at around $22K and that was for the full monty house pullers, non dually types.

Last week a woman of questionable sobriety hit our truck.
I pray that you/driver and passenger(s) are okay.

Now...sue the woman for everything, up to and including her third, fourth, and fifth descendants. Personally, I have no patience for drivers who willingly screw up [directly through action, or indirectly as with impairment] behind the wheel.

Price to hold dealerships to - works every time for me...

Invoice + 2% of invoice for dealership profit + transportation & shipping - rebates - trade in
Pay Taxes on final number (and rebate possible, trade-in already been taxed)
Registration fee
Conveyance fee (fixed paperwork price)

Buying a new vehicle sucks. If it must be a truck, newer F-150's are a good bet. And with gas prices going up, a lot of good used trucks are available, at least around here. Regional variations of course, used Subarus hold their value around here so much, that it's a good idea to find one in Omaha.

Personally, I wish modern hybrids and diesels had been around a few years ago, here. They certainly been available in other countries. 50+ mpg is attainable, and it should not be so damn expensive.

Ford's Fiesta made a brief appearance in America during the mid-70s before retreating back to Europe where it has gone through three generations of development. If the rumors are correct, it's likely that the next-generation Fiesta (closely related to the Mazda2) will return again to anchor Ford's small car push in this country some time around 2010.

But the current Fiesta ST is a pretty delectable treat itself. Powered by a 148-hp, 2.0-liter engine, the front-drive Fiesta ST hatchback is reasonably quick, handles among the very best small cars, gets more than 50 MPG and is handsome in a slightly anonymous way. And we hear this car is just as comfortable in the cut and thrust of urban traffic as it is in the tight corners of a racetrack.

So what's taking Ford so long to get it over here?
