Last time I tried LSD was in 1992 when I knew some people that followed The Grateful Dead for short periods of time while selling beads and tie-dye garments. They always came back with the good shit. This was about the same time that cops took to viewing these gatherings as easy pickings, fish in a barrel type thing and went in cracking skulls without provocation or cause, just because it was a Dead concert and they were "hippies."

This was also about the same time that the hippies started fighting back against the cops with squirt guns filled with LSD. Many careers were ruined because of the gestapo and freewheeling tactics of law enforcement of the time. One guy I knew was looking at a life sentence and blew his brains out while still in the hospital weeks after his arrest. This was the Real Drug War, attacking low rung citizens. What options did they have left but to come out of their pacifist shells and fight back with the only thing they had? Nobody wins in a war ... not even the victors.

Most of the followers of the Grateful Dead that I knew were heroin dabblers, as in those who would (or try to) use it occasionally. However, from the way a couple of them were able to blow bags all night long I suspect they were more than just "occasional dabblers". One afternoon I was in a car with a couple of them, this guy and these 2 really good looking French girls from Quebec who were his cousins. We were heading from NYC towards Albany. I was in the back seat and one of them passed a couple bags to me and I snorted one of them and then for the rest of the trip I was discussing the origins of the Universe and the principles of Economics in between nodding off.

I have one friend, Jeff who could just crank out effin great sculpts one after one all night long.
The rest of us just made a fuckin mess and kept the tunes going.
Did that all summer and completely burned out, never to revisit that (at that level) again.
I bet we went through 100 lbs of PlayDough.

Oh I sure we gnawed down a bit. The blots took away most desire to eat, if my memory holds.
I do remember consuming large quantities of green and orange Gatorade, pissin blue and strobin'. Loved the optics until I started going colorblind, then got the f scared out of me and stopped that shit. Flashed off and on for about 6 months later. Interesting ride which goes nowhere...glad I was surrounded by friends...we pretty all decided it really was not giving us the enlightment or whatever for the endeavor.
A couple of beers and some horse shoe chunking at the beach paired with mindless chat works just as well if not better over the distance.
I still keep up with a few. True buds and we still do chat abit about 10 Rosemary St.

I hear that. One of the things I LOVED about sailing (back when I had the time) was that cruising out on the open water, sitting around the tiller in the cockpit was just like sittin' around the bong!

Truth.
A friend of a friend of a friend sort of deal sold (or near gave) me a 10 year old Bay Arabian right after the stoopid periods which I guess everyone is bound to experience. This led to about 25 years of more awareness and buzz than I thought possible. I buried him in 2003 and it was indeed a great ride. Some of us do get lucky.
I don't ride anymore, but still love the horse. My neighbor has about 20 and each is unique.
