One of my customers long ago worked at the Minneapolis airport for the FAA.

In 1988, they were still using magnetic core memory in critical systems,
and they had to purchase and refurb used ones to keep running.

But fire everyone, that's the solution. Eventually, he did some whistle blowing.

He found a gig with an avionics company that wasn't that stupid.

I think we've reached a point of diminishing returns with all the cutbacks in the workforce with regards to air traffic controllers. Russia had the same problem in the past.

Working night shift is rough. But shaddup, if you can't handle it, find another job.

Shift pay helps, but making allowances for breaks and naps would be a good idea.

Better productivity, less mistakes, and better health for the employee. But no, that would be too intelligent.

20 minute cat nap starting around 3:10 AM. Nah, make them grab a broom is they need to be alert.

Someday a woman in the Philippines or India will be in control 8,000 miles away and getting $12/day.

And that's to run the country!

Well, I guess this might not be a problem if we had minimum safe working conditions for the ATC guys... I guess that goes out the window, because ATC is socialism.

OK... a somewhat serious question....

Why does the FAA have jurisdiction over air traffic in to and out of an Air Force base? Maybe I am wrong (it has happened before!), but I thought the FAA only dealt with civilian aviation.

Things will only change when this happens to Boner or one of his friends.
