Another damn diesel Escort. This baby is pretty rare. They only made about 900 of them. Of course rare junk is still junk. (That's just for you, George...)
Note fuel injector pump in pic #2. Went through 3 of those bad boys before we found a good one for the 84, which I still have. I'm loving the 45+ mpg on these things.
Anyone want to buy a 99 Chrysler Sebring convertible or a 95 Mercury Sable wagon?
Seriously, the Chrysler is a great car. The Mercury is the only Ford that I've ever owned, I'll say is a POS.
She'd never even make a half a winter up here. Keep her warm, Thats all i'm sayin.

I don't think I've ever seen a diesel Escort, except for here on the Island.

I'd be interesting in owning something like this VW XL1 diesel prototype. Pretty cool looking too.

Needs antennae.
I understand the ignition noise from a diesel is so bad ya can't hear a thing! ;)

Interesting point. I haven't put a radio in either car. Just what would generate the ignition noise, anyway?

The spark plugs, of course! They're usually pretty hard to find on a diesel engine...a lot of the time you have to pull the head to get at them.:cool2:

Just checking.

The only "noise" I would know of would be the engine noise manifesting itself in the form of actual sound.

I'd enjoy the heck out of a 240D Benz.

It comes from the injector firing pulses I think. Check out W8JI's info on how he cured it on an F-250/350 diesel.

Yeah on some cars the injectors are pulsed and can make a terrible racket. Pulsing them allows the solenoid to develop more pressure with less heat in the windings and also enables better fuel metering by the computer. They can be a brute to tame for HF installations but VHF and UHF are usually not a problem.

That car needs a coat of new paint...badly!

Why, thank you! I could really use one about now.

Dave, I get what sounds like ignition noise from the electronic-controlled fuel
injectors on the Cummins in the Kenworth. Dunno if that will be an
issue with your mechanical injectors on the Escort. Only noise
I can see you having problems with is alternator and blower motors.
