I know sometimes CD/DVD drives can be noisy. But I never realized what noisy was till I bought a drive from a surplus dealer many years ago. The dealer was selling them for $2.00 each and he warned me... these drives are noisy. Well, that drive wasn't just noisy... It was LOUD. It sounded like an old fashioned subway train when it spun up. You could hear it downstairs. And it not only shook and rattled the computer case and the desk but the whole darned floor. It worked for about a year then rattled itself into oblivion. Needless to say, everyone was glad when I put that drive to rest.
