I'm still waiting and it's nearly upon us here. The winds are putting that little extra whip in the trees.

I was just getting ready to tell you, the Fit is about to hit the shan where you are.

ETA: Hail shaft NW of you. Tornado Vortex SW of you. Both should pass on either side of you.

Charles, it is about 5 minutes away from you.

ETA: OR LESS

Just got a round of pea hail.

That happens when you get older. Just be thankful you could do that much.

Oxalate or Struvite?

KG4CGC

Iron, magnesium, calcium. The toothy one looks oxalic.

That's what what antifreeze does to the kidneys. Boom, Boom out go the lights (after a few days).

The worst is over for you. When it passes, it gets cold again.

Well, I'm done. Direct hit to the vertical, vaporized the top, bent the bottom, went through the coax into the shack. The radios were disconnected from the coax, but that didn't help. Tuner caught fire. HF rig non-responsive. Power supply, rotator on separate tower, RigRunner and PowerGate still appear to operate.

It's been fun, but the way things are financially I don't have the money to replace nearly 20 Benjamins worth of stuff. I've already said my goodbyes to the moderator staff, and with this post, to the rest of you.

God bless,

Richard

Damn! Sorry to hear about your gear. You still have a callsign though. Why leave? Someone has to stand up to us dirty libs.

Richard, you need an HF radio? Let me know via PM. I got you covered.

ETA: I have ladder line, tuner, and anything else you need. Even a Mosley TA 33 Senior.

Geez , that's gotta be demoralizing . Don't be in a rush to go , man , you're one of the bright spots here . I'm not in position here to offer much more than a prayer , and that is done as this is sent . Give it a few days . Things have a way of working out sometimes .

What they said.

Additionally, I may be able to fix some (or all) of the stuff for you.

We lost one of the phases of our 3ph power feed to my employer's building yesterday - as a result of the storm and an out-of-control driver.

Lunch hour was fun.

Whoa! Just found the thread Richard.

I have a "spare" TS-520 that's yours for indefinite loan. Just give the word.

I can send you the SWR/FS meter that Ron sent me. I use it mainly as a lightning detector but it is not vital to my set up so if you can use it, it is yours.

I don't have much in the way of spare equipment, but if there's anything I can scrounge up for you, I'll grab it.

I also have a 60' roll of 450 ohm (window line). Yours if you want it.

that lightning is bad shit, had my share of getting blitzed with lightning. if you had it unhooked from the coax, then id guess it wasnt unplugged from the 110.

some of the stuff may be salvageable. i wouldnt give up

UPDATE: Lightning hit the big oak tree in front. That is why I said in a different post that it looked shredded. I'll take some pictures later. I unhooked everything EXCEPT for the coil of coax at the base of the tower (it wasn't connected to an antenna, and connected to the tuner at the other end) Inductive coupling must have done its nastiness, the power supply is fine and so are the computers, so I don't think it came through the mains.

I'm boxing up the FT-950 for shipment to Yaesu. The tuner is going to LDG.

Again, thanks guys for the offers of assistance and equipment. Maybe I can see a few of you in Dayton and we can down some adult beverages.

Cheers. I feel better already.

A week later: About to get hit again.

About three minutes ago a station in VA bailed out of a QSO with me because of T-storms in his area.
