I'm looking for radio apps for the Android OS for use on the Backflip. Is there one that actually uses the phone hardware and software to make a radio? I'd be interested in something that is tethered to a PC as well. Kind of like SDR.
This is new to me so forgive my ignorance. Thanks.

Can't speak to Android but the only SDR app available for the iPhone is designed to control one of the kit units, such as the SoftRock (http://kb9yig.com/). I don't think any phone has adequate hardware to work as a stand-alone SDR (but I could be wrong about that).

Thanks. I guess my only options are streaming audio. There's already a scanner app that streams a local scanner via the radio reference site.

I think that there is an Echolink app, that would be cool if there is. As a matter of fact, without researching it I am almost positive that there is, just not one for last decades cool phone users like me though. Time to retire the Crackberry I guess.

Lot's them :) I use Ham Radio (For propagation), and EchoLink mostly.

There's an EchoLink app for the iPhone. I've used it to talk to Corey and John (IZE) via a repeater in the NYC area.
