UConn Huskies defeats a worthy opponent tonight to advance to the Elite Eight. UConn will face the winner of the Duke/Arizona game.

It is the men's team, that's why it gets attention.

There is a saying at UConn: UConn - where the men are men and women are champions

As a fan congrats on that. I predict the OSU Buckeyes will go all the way this year. Sometime in the fall of this year, the will be forced to forfeit do to some serious NCAA rules violation of team/coach behavior.

Amazingly, they get Arizona next! I had UConn in my bracket to face Duke, knew Calhoun would have them ready for the big dance.

Tonight, Virginia will return to reality. I don't think the U of R Spiders have anything for Kansas, and VCU has been playing above their pay grade. I'm pretty sure both will make their exit tonight.

Good for UConn men's BB! Now, as far as the ladies, well, it's time for someone else to have a chance. UConn women's games aren't even competitive. They lay waste to their opponent. What happened to parity in NCAA women's basketball?

First of all, the UConn team was very good. I did not like SDSU at all. At least they ended up getting 2 (count 'em 2) technicals because they are regular jerks. Congrats to UConn Mens. They did very well.

My Kansas team can be beaten anytime. I realize Richmond is very good and that if Richmond just goes into the game thinking that they are just playing a game and not think about it being Kansas, Richmond can win it. I really don't think Kansas is playing all that excellent this year. Yeah, they only have 2 losses, but they don't have an exclamation point like OSU or Arizona. I hafta say Kansas will win tonight, but I doubt it will be a blowout.

How about Butler? I mean, how about Butler?

Me included. I was furious when Va Tech was snubbed ... again. I thought VCU was going to blow that game last night, they looked tired at the end.

Like Richmond, I don't really think they have anything for Kansas. Another blowout ahead!

I never thought OSU would make their exit last night. My bracket sheet has been obliterated, first Pitt, then Duke, now OSU. Wow.

You picked Duke over UConn???
Why, yes, I did!

I had Duke winning it all ... :chin:

Looking at my sheet, I actually have KY taking Ohio out, with UNC being their opponent! I must have been unconscious when I made that pick. I had Duke & UConn in the Elite 8, with Duke winning.

Looking forward, I have NC knocking off KY, and Kansas in the Final 4. At this point in time, I'd have to give the edge to Kentucky to win it all if they beat UNC tomorrow. If they fail to do that, I think either UNC or Kansas will be crowned champions.

It wouldn't be a shock to see UConn as national champion, but I fear they are overdue for one of their patented letdowns. Barring that, I feel their chances are as good as anyone's!

I think they (UConn) feel it (to take the tournament). You see that dive for the ball on the floor by Walker? He wants this bad! The Freshmen are really picking up the slack. It's going to be a good three years at UConn!

I wouldn't mind seeing UConn take the crown, and that's because of Walker's incredible effort, but the key to stopping them is to stop Walker. Don't think for a moment that's going unnoticed by Coach Miller of Arizona!

UConn Women advance to the Elite Eight, after a tough game against Georgetown. UConn has defeated both DePaul and Duke by wide margins this year.

As I Type: VCU 17, Kansas 10

Go VCU!

9:48 left in first half: VCU 20, Kansas 10

Now: VCU 28, Kansas 17
VCU is playing smart, great ball!!

6:22 left in first half: VCU 31, Kansas 17 -- Kansas doesn't know what is hitting them

4:48 left in first: VCU 36, Kansas 19

Half time: VCU 41, Kansas 27

Man, downtown Richmond is manic! Broad Street is closed, and the streets are full. We rode close to the canal walk near the river, and people are out everywhere. This kinda stuff just doesn't happen to Richmond teams.

I'll stay with reality. VCU might knock off Butler, but they just had two very big, very emotional wins, back to back. Even with a week off, which may not be so good for them, they will be hard pressed to get their level of intensity back that high.

Butler over VCU by 6.

UK v UConn will be the game, too close to call, but I'll use you as the tie-breaker, Paul, UConn by 3.

UConn should win the championship game handily.

My daughter in law had some neck issues. We watched the kids until a few minutes ago. We still have our grandson since he is still napping at the moment. But the daughter in law went to the emergency room and got some pain killers for the neck and she is doing okay. The car had to be towed.

I am exhausted. Not designed to have kids constantly anymore.

• Fewest total points in a title game since 1949.

• UConn scored 109 points in two games here. That marked the fewest total points in a Final Four for the winning team since Oklahoma A&M in 1946. The Huskies made exactly two 3-point shots in Houston -- and still won it all.

• Butler's three 2-point field goals -- three! -- were the fewest ever in an NCAA tournament game. Its 18.8 percent shooting was the worst in a title game and the worst in any NCAA tourney game since Harvard against Ohio State in 1946.

A lot of credit goes to the relentless UConn defense that blocked 10 shots and simply shut down the paint, but Butler was just hopeless on offense.

This is good for the Big East and congrats to UConn! At least this makes up for the embarrassment the football team faced against Oklahoma in January.

Although I wish the Big East would get their priorities in order and know that football money pays the bills. Now they want to woo Villanova in for football in a soccer stadium that seats 18K. Nova? Really? They need to aim bigger and get a clue that most of the Nova fans and alumni DO NOT support the football side jumping to FBS and being a football member of the conference.
