View Full Version : 17 m is open to Europe
Just worked a station in France on 17m PSK31. First time I've ever worked Europe in the daytime from here on the Left Coast.

That was a good haul Carl. :agree:

You don't know the half of it—I saw him calling before I'd even gotten my rig tuned up so I was working him with a terrible SWR and no more than 15 watts out. It's surprising he heard me at all. I guess that's proof of the old ham truism about how, when the bands are open, you can work the world no matter how puny your signal may be.

Bands have been cranking for about two weeks, and actually a little mellower this week. Before the sunspot numbers dropped a little, I was working DX on 15, 12, and 10. All on SSB, actually. Last few nights have been good on 75/80 again.
Heck Dave there have been stations on 20 and 17 that were 20 to 30 over s9.. Have'nt seen that in a long long time.
I worked Suriname and New Zealand too. A good DX day!

FB OM hihi QSO?
Haven't the bands been great lately?
12 meters was open around here most mornings last week. I think I chalked up about 20 new entities on the band; could have had more, but I had other things going on, and if I ever think about putting in a new kitchen again, somebody shoot me.
