Tonight is f*uc with the clocks time again. I have about 12 of 'em.... hate it.
We'll never be rid of this nuisance, just like we'll never be rid of the penny. People and their ingrown ways are just such a pita sometimes.

But just think. With the changeover to Daylight time you will save on lamp oil. Not to mention you won't have to hitch the team and drive into town to the General Store as often.

You can always get clocks that reference WWV and they change themselves. That is how I solved the clock reset problem.

I leave my clocks in EST all year round. I don;t even bother moving them and just schedule my appointments and timing an hour earlier or an hour later depending on what position everyone else's clocks are in. So for example if work starts at 7:00am I start at 6:00 am The amount of sunlight and everything else is the same. So for me nothing changes other than the times I do things.

Think I changed 5 of 'em here. Haven't worn a watch for over a decade (but still have the tan line).

Got a Casio atomic watch. I keep it in a drawer in the nightstand, cost me $30 at Target a couple years back. I wear it only while on vacation (rare these days, it seems). Pulled it out this morning and used it to set the other clocks. Then, put it back in the drawer.

That's kind of humorous. Warm and dry westerly wind blowing in the Straits of Gibraltar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straits_of_Gibraltar) too.

I once hung a plastic Timex from my belt via a modified strap. It was for safety reasons. Figured that one out after the watch got popped off my wrist by a pair of rollers in a plastic film industrial factory complex.

I had me one of them atomic watches but gave it up. Too much hassle from the NRC concerning the spent fuel. I sold it to IZE and he's using it to power his 813 rig.

Set all the clocks here from the digits on the FiOS boxes. Have an "atomic" hanging on the wall, but the POS takes days to change itself. Hour behind right now. Too far from Boulder, I guess. It gets around to it eventually.

Don't wear a watch, except on special occasions. Mostly carry pocket watch (wind every day) or the cell phone. I'm retired. Doan need no steeenking watches.

Paregoric time?
The active ingredient in Paregoric? Opium!

That stuff really tasted like shit, but one dose was usually enough to cure even the worst case of diarrhea. I think it was because no one ever wanted a second dose!

That's because Paregoric is camphorated. Years ago you could buy it here over the counter. It was frequently used for babies who were suffering the pain of teething. Laudanum is much better. Alcohol and Opium.

Like anything else in this country. Nanny has to protect us from ourselves. It reminds me of what they did with the old formula for Actifed and actifed with Codeine. First Nanny made actifed with Codeine prescription only. Then Nanny decided that the plain actifed has ingredients that someone might use to make Meth. So they changed the whole formula, antihistamine and all. The trouble is that the new formula sucks. i used to swear by it for my allergies and last time I tried the new formula it did nothing. Waste of money. Only way you can get the old formula Actifed is to order it from Canada. You can also buy codeine OTC in Canada. But not here in Nannyland. yes, some other countries still treat their people like adults.

What I didn't like was when they extended DST. Not too bad on (Linux/Unix) computers where the fix is just a matter of updating a tz file. But hard on devices where the switchover is hardcoded and not easy or withwhile to reprogram. One of the wusses who sponsored the legislation said, "longer DST makes everyone feel...sunnier". Let em stick it where the sun don't shine.

The amazing thing about atomic clocks is how reliably (if not -ahem- "timely") they get reset to WWV. VLF must really propagate well, plus there must be some bodacious transmitter out in Co.

BTW...when you need to change the fuel in you atomic clock, 'ize wants the spent fuel. He knows a way to make it safe.

I think the atomic clocks should be shutdown. I am sure that just living within a few hundred miles of one is dangerous. What if there is an earthquake or a flood and the deadly radioactivity in one of those clocks is breached ? it would destroy life as we know it over the entire world. Not to mention the clock would melt down and result in a 30,000 megaton explosion leaving the earth glowing in the day and night. These atomic clocks are a deadly menace to the earth, flowers, and living things. I say we shut them all down and replace them with sundials or wind clocks. Better yet we don't need clocks. When the sun rises we leave our caves and forage for seeds and berries and when the sky darkens we head back to our caves.

I was surprised to learn that the nearest cesium clock to me is at the local telco central office . Apparently they all have them . Also surprising , John , is your listed location . I've always presumed you were at your license address in Yonkers . Have you recently gone south , or was I just not paying attention ?
