Looks like Icom has released a successor to the venerable IC-746 PRO, the IC-7410: (http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-010984)

HF +6m. Not cheap at $2 grand, but probably less than the fabled IC-9100 will be--assuming the 9100 ever gets FCC approval.

"Assuming the 9100 ever gets FCC aap*"
Yeah. They need to quit wasting time and money advertising it.

The 9100 looks like a real nice radio on paper. I'm sure they'll sell a boatload of them--once they actually do start selling them.

The only things which would hold me back from buying one is the propensity for both LCD screen and PA driver transistors to fail. Fix those issues and I'm right on board. Preferably with a 9100...

Just stock some spares while the rig is still in production.

Shortly after the rig goes out of production, and new spares are made out of Unobtanium, you can sell one or two sets for enough to cover all your costs, and still have a spare ready to go if/when you need it.

Honestly, I like my IC-751A - R71A - IC-2KL - AT-500 combo. Or an IC-751A - AH-2 combo for barefoot Field Day work. So much so that I'm going to sell off a lot of my other gear to make room for a couple more '751A setups.
