I was reading an article about the DC-3 in an aircraft magazine a while back and the author stated that they cost less per hour to operate than a King Air.

Rudy flew one of them

Rudy owns several. He needs them to ferry the APUs for his Bell 47s.

....actually there's a rumour running around Rudy was involved in a black project involving the U-2 ..... strange how these rumours get going....

The DC3 was a great airplane. Built to last and reliable.

I'll bet it had something to do with an APU on the U2.

Hello.

I have been in a DC-3 when Tobin Aviation was still doing aerial surveys.
Now that is all done with satellites for 1/1200th the cost.
Right up to about 5 years ago we had some Mexican air freight firms run the DC-3.
And, yes and no, they can be cheap to operate, but overall costs depend on a stockpile of parts.
If you are running one or 2, not cheap at all, but 25, scale of economics takes over.
