Hello.

I looks like 2 days of 20 degrees in San Antonio.
That means millions of dollars in damage, and plenty of work for me.

No chit, Tulsa just went to a blizzard warning, and our guv has already declared a state of emergency for all 77 counties. The snow hasn't even started yet. The local wx guys that have been on the air say they've never seen anything like this.

Who could have imagined that 3" of icy snow weighs as much as 1+ feet of heavy, wet snow?

Took me a solid hour to clean the driveway this morning and another half hour to clean my car off.

More coming tonight. :wall:

Was in Akron (well Copley) about 1:30am and left about 3am. Looked like it was going to be a bad one. Came to the conclusion 21 and I-77 from Copley road to the toll road are the forgotten part of the world in Ohio, the turnpike west to Toledo wasn't in much better shape either. Oh well, if you live in Ohio or Michigan you can learn to expect that every winter. Hope the Ice isn't going to be too bad. I still have to run over that way again Wed. They closed the lane for tonite. Good thing, I have to deal with the foot of snow they're calling for in Detroit.

Well, the storm has passed (finally)! We broke all one day snow fall records in N.E. OK with this one. I have 4-5' drifts in my yard now, hopefully the county will be by sometime in the next couple days to plow the roads. You know it's bad when you see the snowplows in town get stuck.

Hello.

It is below freezing, and the pipes are a poppin'.
It has to stay below freezing for at least a full day.
What happens is that people remember to leave the water running until that night or next morning, and once it freezes the show is over.
The frozen water expands, and cracks pipes.
Most of the damage will be inside walls, but sometimes it is in the slab or outside.
Moral of the story, pay a little now, or else!
Let the water drip a bit, at every faucet.
Or, buy electric pipe heating strips.
Cover external faucets and be sure they are insulated to below ground level.
This house has valves inside the house to turn off the water outside.
You close the inside valves and open the outside valves.
Once the water stops dripping you put a screw on cap on the faucet, but do not close the valve.
If there is a bit of water left it can expand to free space.

I don't think we even got that much on my side of the city. Mostly just a thin coating of ice, not even enough to break a tree branch.
