So much for Almanacs then eh?
No snow, just 2.5 degrees Celcius below 0.
We had 5 weeks snow and very low temperatures in November/December, white xms and all, then we mostly had temperatures above 0.
Let the summer rip ;)

:lol::lol:

George. I guess at this point in time we can safely conclude that the farmers almanac ... was wrong.:lol: Even if February turns out to be very mild this will still go down as a rough winter. Even up here I have never seen snow after snow pile up on top of each other with no significant melting in between.

I guess the chipmunk, or the cow, or chicken or whatever the Farmers Almanac uses to predict the weather isn't very reliable. :-D Maybe they should invest in a ouija board. ..

Really nasty stuff here. Heavy as all hell, pulling over evergreens, especially Leylands, and dragging the branches of the hardwoods very low. May be busting up my crape myrtles, but I can't see out to tell --- the damn branches being so low and so full of heavy, gluey snow that you can't see through them!

Lost power several times through the night; had to reset some clocks, but mostly the automatic coffee maker. Had to do a manual perk on that... which meant having to wait. Oughta sue somebody over that.

This one barely missed us, the bottom edge of it swung just North. We had a beautiful snow falling just after daylight yesterday morning that melted as soon as it hit the ground. Only lasted about 15 minutes.

We seldom see snow and ice anyway. This is only the 2nd or 3rd time in my life we've had a White Christmas. These heavier snows usually don't happen to us until late Feb. or even March.

My wife's aunt and her husband moved way down to Milledgeville, GA on Lake Sinclair to enjoy warmer weather in their retirement years. They've had 3 bouts with snow & ice this Winter and it's freaking them out big time. I see FL looming in their future!

No snow here, Florida is the only state in the union that has not had snow this year. But it has been COLD. My electric bill is $100 higher this month because of sub-freezing temperatures for several weeks.

Nice and toasty Saturday, though. Too bad I was working a project for the radio club, getting the N1MM contesting software working on a small network. I really wanted to work on the RV, but duty called.

Winter weather advisory here until Tuesday morning. Up to another 7 inches of the crap. Normally I fill my 5 gallon gas can at the start of the snowy season here and that gets me through and I pour the remainder in to my truck about the end of April. I have to run up town later to refill it. Effing snow.

Ice build up is expected to be bad, very bad. Some municipalities are telling their people to be prepared for power outages lasting days to weeks.
Fly-over territory looks to be under a huge bullseye according to the weather maps.

Seems you guys have some sh*t coming your way :o

We buried our cables in a large project in 1930's when there were not that much to bury ;)

Only real high voltage cables are overhead, over 50 KV lines between city's and the like.
We had some serious winters here, icing, but in 24 years in this house i had one outage lasting 2 hours because a transformer house blew up.

Looked at the weather charts for the USA, glad I'm here now...
Take care, stay safe please..

Last years every year 1 to 3 feet total, snowplows is an every year event here.
Close to the North Sea, lots of moisture in the air, so temperatures drop, and we have "fun"
This month just some frost, but end October and December snow, hail, and deep freeze...
Started with 80+ kilo's road salt for our 30 feet path, 35 kilo's left... and lots of aches shovelling the stuff away.

Where's summer when you need it?:mrgreen:

Reminds me of the time I was deadheading to a paper mill in rural Pennsylvania in a snowstorm. Spent a lot of time going sideways--and an 18-wheeler takes up a lot of road when it's sideways. Good thing it was late at night and there wasn't much traffic.

Last time I chained up a big truck was going over Cabbage on I-84 in Oregon. Took about an hour, I was wet, cold and dirty when I was done and I only got about 100 yards before a chain on one of the drivers broke. Luckily I happened to have a spare, but only because one of the shop guys couldn't count. After that, it was the "F-Y" button or a re-route.

Finally a decent day Sunday. Bright and sunny with temps about 42. I took the Honda out for about 45 minutes, damn it felt good to get back on 2 wheels. It is an odd feeling to be riding on a motorcycle with 4' high snow banks on both sides of the road.
