If you drink the American/Mexican style Pilsner type beers you owe it to yourself to try Samuel Adams Noble Pils.
It's a Pilsner made from quality ingredients (barley malt & hops), available everywhere, doesn't taste like stale breakfast cereal, and is about the same price as Corona.

Haven't tried it. It's on the short list. I believe SA has also come out with a champagne made to Bavarian Purity Law standards.

Had some. It's great! I hope it's something they'll consider brewing full time. Interesting that they released it in the Winter, as I really think it's a better Summer beer! Anyway, good stuff!

I shall inquire of my supplier; I am a pilsner fan -- real pilsner, that is.

Yes, I too hope it becomes a year round brew. From what I hear it's quite popular so maybe it will.
It's just starting to come onto the shelves now so it might be another week or two until you see it.
One thing that many including myself think, it's considerably better the fresher it is. I just bought a 12 pack with an expiration date of May2011. The insiders are saying the first of the new batch was bottled Dec 20, 2010 and has May 2011 stamped as the expiration date.

Be careful what you speak. The REAL stuff might not be to your liking.

This is the real thing--brewed in Plzen (Pilsen), whence the term "pilsner" arises:

A birthday present to me, no doubt.

Unless it's different from the stuff bottom-brewed in the Czech Republic, I don't think I'd have much problem. I am always careful. ;)

Yummy!

Yes, it is an excellent beer. It is best cold, right out of a bucket of ice, like we Amis like it.

Irk-well is good if fresh and not abused.
With the exception of wine, most things exported to the US are NOT the best the respective country has to offer.

The original REAL Budweiser is even a bit better than Irk-well.

How are you going to maintain the temperature? Lager is kind of fussy about that.

My garage stays about the correct temp in cold weather. Winters are kinda mild here. So it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I can see the ultimate "super micro" brewery in my garage very soon. I figure the neighbors will call the police and tell them I am cooking meth or something.

LOL! Corn likker does get it done quicker. Where's my copy of the Fox Fire books at?? I think volume one had a chapter on stills and moonshine. Gotta love rural Appalachia.

Good stuff

i picked up a sampler 12 pack with the noble pils and i am impressed. the only true pilsner i have had before is the red star heiny from the netherlands and the sam adams is on par with it. i have just finished another excellent ale from the same sampler and i can say the scotch ale does not disappoint. i still have a couple double bocks in the fridge and i am going to try their irish red next.
i am now enjoying

Not a fan of Olde Frothingslosh (http://www.rustycans.com/HISTORY/oldfroth.html) then, are you? "The pale stale ale, with the foam on the bottom"... "a whale of an ale for the pale stale male."

Just bottled the latest batch of beer. It showed 14.3% alkyhaul on the hydrometer. The shist tastes good going into the bottles. It's a wheat type of beer and has been fermenting for two weeks. The technical name is PMO #3, but I am going to call it "ISLAND FIRE" if it turns out good. It is conditioning now.

My first beer, the one with the mandarin oranges in it, was excellent. Those that were over here for the tasting, asked for a bottle to take home. I figured it would be crap, but it wasn't.

14% is awful high for beer.

Hello.

14% is about right for a stout beer.
Citrus makes an excellent base, as has been discovered.

"Island Fire" sounds like a good name if it burns going down... or going out.

Not sure how you did your measurements & calculations, but a 14% alcohol content is suspicious.

Congrats! Eager consumption is the best compliment for a brew. :-D

Good stouts run between 7 to 11% abv. Anything over 11% is going into gimmick territory.

Last batch of beer, DAMN !!!!! Good stuff. Malty, creamy, with a slight hint of hops aftertaste. Island Fire has entered the scene.
