As far as I can tell now, there's no linux driver for my new printer - Canon MG5220. Is there anything to do but wait and hope there will be one?

Thanks! Pity I don't have a clue what to do with it...but I've got it, and someday I'll figure out how to install it!

Check that....I got it. Just double-click the .deb file. DUH!

Thanks for the help.

Well, it's there and it works, but it's missing features of the windows driver. Won't report ink levels, and won't even let me change from portrait to landscape. Or...maybe there's settings missing, or something.

Well, finding it so quick for me was impressive. I googled it, followed the link to the Canon site & that turned into a dead end. And Ubuntu couldn't find it automatically.

Ahhhhh...Linux. Everything seems orthogonal to Windows, and instincts with wintel just don't help when figuring out Linux.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

Well, be glad it doesn't report ink levels. Some of those pesky manufacturers say your ink is low based on DATE not ink levels. And, portrait/landscape you get to configure per application. It's both a bonus and a bane.

Love those words. When I'm more sober and can report accurately, it's a case of the applications say I CAN do landscape, yet it comes out in portrait. Just another window/Linux difference that I need to learn. Thank for the words!
