The problem went away. It usually would happen when I put the computer in "hibernate" instead of "sleep", so I made a note to not use "hibernate". But then, lo and behold, the "hibernate' button disappeared from the menu, so the problem (as slight as it was) doesn't exist anymore.
I'd guess that hibernate was a goof-up up on either MS's or Asus's part. The fact that it went away makes me think it was MS because I haven't seen any Asus updates.
