Another thread to post your local pics on. Post as often as you want or just once with a link to your local pictures. It doesn't matter.
I think I started a thread like this long ago here on the Island. It has since faded from memory. Now's your chance to update. :)

This is May 2006 in Greenville SC in EM84. It was a Friday.

ETA: I took further advantage of the artsy fartsy stuff and used the wide angle distortion of straight lines and angles to my advantage, IMO.

This is at Chimney Rock behind and above the chimney. It's called Devil's Head and has the appearance of simply dropping from the area above it. It has been there for such a long time that even the Native Americans recognize it as a landmark.

I was hoping his folks weren't partial to goats.
Either way I guess we're good.

That pic of me @ 20 was in the house I grew up in in PA. It was the christening celebration of my nephew that day (Saturday or Sunday). The place was packed with friends & relatives of both families. I'm probably a bit smoked up. Thinking back on that time, it was so easy to get smoke then. Much easier than even getting beer or other alcohol. Our culture is so screwed up. By banning some things they seem to become more desirable and or easier to get.

I didn't take this one. Decidedly railroad-themed, for Bill:

http://station76.net/abb/images/1501-09.jpg

Our house is about a mile away, towards the rear of the train and roughly 250 yards west of the right-of-way.

Up until the mid-70s there were six tracks in this spot. It wasn't uncommon to see at least three trains running simultaneously through the area and I recall seeing five once.

That lead unit is the latest GE technology production. I climbed up on the roof of one a couple years back and listened to the engine idle by getting close to the exhaust stack. The tones, echoes, complexities and staccato are amazing. They rev up a bit to power air compressors, etc from time to time.
