Sry, 03.00 hours now local.
Just worked Bruce, W8RA on 160, and UA9LIE from asiatic Russia from the Netherlands, and a bunch others on 160.
Tired now, off to bed, Good DX ;)

I bailed out of work at the 1/2 day mark today due to a general lack of interest. Took my bride out to lunch and now I'm home again and will be in the shack for the next hour. I've got the Flex-1500 up and running if anyone wants to try a QRP phone QSO. I'm not set for andy digital modes with it at the moment or CW.

01-24-2011, 02:35 PM
What freq? My rig is already warmed up an tuned for 20m.

KC9ECI
01-24-2011, 02:39 PM
I'm parked on 14.226

NQ6U
01-24-2011, 02:41 PM
Give me a minute...

KC9ECI
01-24-2011, 02:42 PM
Will do.

KC9ECI
01-24-2011, 02:44 PM
Almost, got you right at the noise floor, can just tell you're there.

NQ6U
01-24-2011, 02:45 PM
Rats. If you can't hear my 100 watts, not likely I'm going to hear your QRP signal, especially with my weenie little station.

KC9ECI
01-24-2011, 02:47 PM
Nope, doesn't seem likely. I've tried calling you a couple times. Bands aren't in that great a shape but it was still worth a try.

NQ6U
01-24-2011, 02:49 PM
Yeah, you never know about these things. Conditions could change any second so I'll monitor that frequency for a while just in case.

KC9ECI
01-24-2011, 02:51 PM
Copy that. I'll toss out the occasional CQ and see who answers. I'll be in the shack for another 39 minute and then I have to go pick up the kidling.

20 is cold right now but 40 is hot.

KC9ECI
01-24-2011, 02:56 PM
Name a freq and I'll move down to 40

NQ6U
01-24-2011, 02:57 PM
I could hear someone tuning up on 14.226 and maybe ECI calling?

KC9ECI
01-24-2011, 02:58 PM
Nope, not me, but I heard it too.

KG4CGC
01-24-2011, 03:00 PM
I called both of you gentlemen.

NQ6U
01-24-2011, 03:02 PM
Well, I could hear you then, Charles, although not very well. You have a 40m freq picked out?

KC9ECI
01-24-2011, 03:03 PM
I've brought the 706 online now and am listening with both rigs. Again, I can tell there's someone there, but there isn't enough signal to be workable.

NQ6U
01-24-2011, 03:04 PM
Yeah, same here. I heard Charles pretty clearly for about ten seconds, then lost him below my S-2 noise floor.

ki4itv
01-24-2011, 03:05 PM
Where are you guys? 40 or 20???

KC9ECI
01-24-2011, 03:06 PM
I'm still on 14.226

KG4CGC
01-24-2011, 03:07 PM
7.204 on 40 if you want to give it a shot.

KC9ECI
01-24-2011, 03:08 PM
There now.

KC9ECI
01-24-2011, 03:09 PM
I heard someone calling and then there was some sort of QRN/QRM spike It looks like it is slowly moving up the band.

KC9ECI
01-24-2011, 03:10 PM
There is a QSO on freq now, someone working a VE6 station.

KG4CGC
01-24-2011, 03:12 PM
40 is wide open but I guess you didn't hear me.

WØTKX
01-24-2011, 03:13 PM
I've been chasin' youse guys, nothing heard but other folks.

Yea... so now what? 17 meters? ;)

KC9ECI
01-24-2011, 03:14 PM
I can hear you guys now between the other QSO on the freq.

NQ6U
01-24-2011, 03:15 PM
Sounds like a net of some sort on 7.204.

KG4CGC
01-24-2011, 03:25 PM
KI4ITV is in the log. for 3:18 to 3:23 PM EST
S7 copy damn near 5x9
Oh and now I'm hearing that BCB station you were talking about but they just faded out again.

WØTKX
01-24-2011, 03:26 PM
Yes, it is... has regional net control stations. And some are noticing an underlying "chatter" on the frequency.

WARC bands have roomage. The dx.info map thingie shows 17 as pretty decent, and so does my radio...

18.160 is stacked in the VFO B. Ooooover?

ki4itv
01-24-2011, 03:28 PM
Fine business copy OM.
Chili too hot! Have to give that a minute.

KG4CGC

Heard ki4itv for a moment on 18.160, then the 2 lb. test line broke... :shifty:

Identified in CW a few times. It's fun to push the buttons on this rayyydio...

ki4itv
01-24-2011, 03:35 PM
I'm supposed to be doing other stuff right now, but hey! that's how I roll!

I could copy you fine Dave, but I'm on a 40m dipole and probably don't have a lobe headed toward you. Damn that.
You're actually loud here.

KG4CGC
01-24-2011, 03:38 PM
HI8MVW is blowing my doors off right now on 18.160.

ki4itv
01-24-2011, 03:38 PM
dx HI8 station coming up on 18.160 now...

NQ6U
01-24-2011, 03:38 PM
I can't do 17m--tried, SWR is too high. Damn.

WØTKX
01-24-2011, 03:39 PM
Yea, he was loud here too... snarchy audio, that Dominican station.

ki4itv
01-24-2011, 03:39 PM
haha double!

WØTKX
01-24-2011, 03:40 PM
Well, it's getting closer (much) to sunset on the east coast, so that is a game changer anyway.

Ham radio, guaranteed to fail when the Internet is working.

Where to now... :spin:

KG4CGC
01-24-2011, 03:40 PM
KP4BI now and I can hear chickens and horses in the background.

ki4itv
01-24-2011, 03:41 PM
KP4BI same freq now. Band swinging wildly

ki4itv
01-24-2011, 03:42 PM
I'll just let charles do it... we're hearing the same stuff...

KC9ECI
01-24-2011, 03:42 PM
In case you guy are curious, this is what it looked like on the screen:

And this is what I was hearing when the VE6 station let off the key:

Yes, it is... has regional net control stations. And some are noticing an underlying "chatter" on the frequency.

Could not hear a peep out of them. Sorry. The 40m ant is set up as a center fed sloper with the high end at 70 feet pointing almost due West. The low end is at 30 feet with an 80' wide metal structure that is 16' high, 12' away from that end. The 33' of 450 windowline is angle pointing SW on the North side of the ant at almost 45 degrees from the dipole.

Whoops !
Them damn four-landers done stole some of our freaknsee. Get off my lawn!

Honestly, I didn't hear them and I asked if the frequency was in use...Heck, I even listened... you can tell, because I heard Charles call me back:lol:

ki4itv
01-24-2011, 05:02 PM
The ant. I was using was cut for 40m and broadside East/West, so I should have heard them.
I was chattin' with CGC off the ends. err, or the coax. I seriously need to check that thing out.

KG4CGC
01-24-2011, 05:13 PM
Signal sounded fine. It would have sounded weak if there was a break at the pinch.

KG4CGC
01-25-2011, 02:10 PM
Who wants to give 20 a shot today? Hearing the usual frequency squatting nets as I type.

NQ6U
01-25-2011, 02:28 PM
I'm game, need to be out there to do laundry anyhow. It's 11:27 PST now, give me about 20 minutes. And what's the frequency, Kenneth?

KG4CGC

Missed your last post in this thread. Carl and I made contact on 14.260, briefly. The band died to your QTH and picked up in Nebraska.
