I finally went skiing today, and broke down in joyful tears at the bottom of the first run.

I CAN SKI AGAIN! It felt so damn good. I'm a little weak, but I can dance.

Stayed on the groomed terrain, but hit 40+ on a few blue runs, big giant slalom arcs.

Kinda bummed I only brought my mellow "teaching skis", they are not as stable as my longer "midfats".

May the god of gravitation draw you near. His ceaseless attraction bent to your will.

Hello.

I know of 5 people who have been killed skiing and over a dozen who have been badly injured.
I have known 3 people who have been killed on motorcycles.
In the case of the motorcycles, all 3 were people who all but asked to die.
And perhaps 20 people who have died in automobile accidents.
In nearly every case lack of safety awareness was the issue.
There is risk in nearly everything you do but you can reduce that risk by your own actions.
Ride a bike with full roll bars, like a cop cruiser, proven to reduce your risk of injury by a very large margin.
Have full lighting at all times, day or night.
Ride aware, you may have the right of way but the other guy is bigger.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It was a hard decision for me but after the umpteenth close call with some clueless moran in a cage I finally got off my old Beemer for good.
