You too, that was same night as BNY.

OK. Well I'm going to put up a monobander for 40m. The 40/20 ant I made really shines on 20 through 10 but won't load on 40, go figure.
That is about the only band I am having trouble loading on.
I regularly hear the gang out of Atlanta every night on 80.

My antenna won't tune up on 17m, dammit. But it's okay—I can never get past those East Coast Kilowatts anyhow.

17 is almost always open to EU in the morning. Over the summer I'd wake up around 10 or 11 and get on 17 CW and work a handful of Europe and Africa daily, 17 is by far my favorite band.

And next June, you and 'DSG, and even our resident Vampire are welcome to stick around for burgers and dogs again.

The WASH club picnic at the Breezeshooter's Hamfest has become a tradition. Wish more clubs would do things like that, but that's another thread for another time.

We enjoyed the cookout and the 'fest itself - even if it meant driving through a tornado watch box to get to the event.

I'll give the organizers of that venue a lot of credit and praise for keeping the signal-to-noise ratio high. As Sue, 'SFH is so fond of saying: "Drop that CB in the trash by the door on the way in!"

Well...maybe it's not that bad most places but it sure seems that way around here. :dunno:

I'm heading east from Dallas tomorrow. I usually run with 17/20/40 in the air. If 11m starts getting noisy, I switch that to 15/12/10. 75 is on request. 6 is when 10 gets short.
For LOS contacts, 2, 440 and 220 are available, but I only have 5 watts on 220.

Unusual weather does seem to follow the Breezeshooter's Hamfest around.

There was one morning (and for those who don't know, it's the 1st Sunday in June every year) when we had frost on the ground around 5 AM. There used to be a local vendor, Jean Bey aka Jeannie the Hat Lady aka "BY 1 HAT," who was a staple both at most WPa hamfests and at Dayton. She made up for me a Dayton sweatshirt... still have it.

But wind, rain, and all the other fun stuff always seems to come around. I'm just annoyed that the wind picked up just as we were trying to put the 10 x 10 gazebo up, tore it apart (5 minutes earlier, we'd have been fine). OTOH, after 10+ years, maybe it's time to break in a new one...

And while it's a mite early yet, those Island folk who plan or are considering coming to Breezeshooters, consider yourselves tentatively invited to the WASH picnic. Contact me for details in a few months. There's no cost, although we ask everyone to bring something so that there's enough to go around.

(We're not allowed to charge, and it's by invitation only; that's our long-standing deal with the Breezeshooters because of some food vendor complaints. And every year, someone from one of the food vendors comes up with their kid or grandkid and tries to buy a hot dog, just to try and catch us in violation. Putzes.)

The pleasure was mine (one gay man to another OMG). I just ordered the hyper doggie tennis ball launcher. I am almost done with my multi band wire array. I am gathering my 2m vertical, and should be back up, and running soon. if I get extra energy, I will finish cutting radials for a 40M vert, and an 80m vert with a switchable parasitic element pointing west. I cant find my ladderline. When the windstorm hit that took down everything (tower, A3, stacked vhf/uhf array on a standoff. I scrambled to gather all of the scrap.

I have one of those.

I wish it was more "hyper". At best it'll loft a tennis ball w/o string attached about 40ft into the air. I'm no Nolan Ryan but I can throw one father and higher than that.

Maybe replacing the supplied rubber tubing with surgical tubing might help? I have an old "Wrist Rocket" with a long front yoke section that'll allow me almost 5ft of draw. I can launch a 1oz fishing sinker and heavy monofilament a good 100ft into the air, but the weight won't always make its way back down through the branches like a tennis ball will.

8' surf rod with spinning reel and 30 to 50 pound test FTW. Put a little light oil in the line on the bobbin so it will slip down through the leaves and branches without a hitch. I get away with a 2oz sinker but a 3oz is perfect with 50lb test.

ETA: I also use a steel leader and double check your line for nicks. You do not want it to break on launch. You could hurt property or people.

Fukit. Crossbow with razor tip arrow. It will trim the branches on the way down, too, as well as people, animals, and anything else in the way. With a real good one, you should be able to launch it over 2000 foot trees, seven blocks over. Should be able to do a full 3 wave dipole for VLF. What a deal.

Too busy working on the inverted L here, took the old one down, and busy putting a new one up lots stronger and about 8 feet higher, to 77 feet, and a wire from there going to the front of the house to the lantern what is there.

Lots of work, new guy wires and pipe starts at 80 mm, or 3 1/4 inch, ending in 1 1/4 inch at the top.

Titanex quality aluminium, guyed at 3 points.
Hope it does as well or better as the old one on 160 -20.
Just using the OCF antenna now.
