Been waiting for the new release of Debian for so long! Personally, can't wait for it to be released. It will be taking its place as primary OS on my systems.

Does anyone expect it before the new year? Perhaps in January.

I'ma gonna take a look at it. See if they are including Unity in the repos there for Squeeze.

I tried that on a netbook, the first impression was good, but it needs some optimising and speeding up to be long term usable. I ended up reverting to gnome.

I've installed the Debian 6.0 Squeeze release on my laptop, and I'm very pleased. The ancient software that plagued Lenny has gone, its fast, stable so far and I have encountered very few problems with it. Using the nouveau nvidia open source driver ( ... quiet video=1400x900-16@60 :) ). GDM resolution wasn't chosen correctly .. something I expected due to the same problem with Ubuntu, fixed by putting an xrandr command in gdm Init script.
