I first heard this late one night , probably in 1972 or so , on KAAY-AM from Little Rock , Arkansas . DJ Clyde Clifford's "Beaker Street" used to be the only source of broadcast rock-n-roll for those of us in the backwoods . Anyway , it's worth the time to listen all the way through . Thanks for the reminder .

And that she left left Southampton, England sailing westward to the United States on her maiden (and only) voyage so it's not likely that an American boxer would have taken passage to England aboard her?

But you're OK with the parking meters, right?

Haha! When I was an intern at WWMO waaaaaaaaay back in 1986, we had two triple deckers that were all sequenced. There was a special cart marked "BATHROOM." It was a liner that went "And now another four in a row gospel music feature..."

At the Ole Miss campus station , it used to be Pink Floyd's Atom Heart Mother Suite .

I didn't realize how localized in time and place Jaime Brockett was. I was in Boston when he was doing his thing in Cambridge, and I heard this maybe once or twice when I was there. Then, I got reminded of it when I heard it late-night when I'd pulled off the New York State Thruway near Rochester in '74 for some much needed Z's. After that, it took a while to find the vinyl (now out of print - but there may be a re-issue). While I was stopped, that station also played Harry Nilsson's The Point with Iblio and Arrow.

At that time and place, this was a massive hit. It had just the right tone for the times, and Mr. Brockett's high-energy playing and singing and speaking were very, very well received. Like I said in the original post, I'd give my left ...whatever... to see him do this live. Must have been AWESOME back then.

I see, though, that not everybody appreciates what he does. Ah, well, no accountin' and all that. I do think that the images in that particular youtube video are distracting...mebbe I shoulda found one without images. Now, I'm going to take my 497.5 feet of rope and get outta here!

Do the Eagle Rock!

Ah, he does know it's the HMS Titanic, not the USS Titanic, right?Actually, RMS Titanic. HMS is a ship of the line of the Royal Navy. USS is a ship of the line of United States Navy. Although the Titanic was a British steamship, it was indirectly American owned by the J.P. Morgan International Merchantile Marine trust.

RMS stands for Royal Mail Steamship, though the new Queen Mary 2 has the designation of RMS but is diesel/electric azipod propelled. No steam involved.

Whatever the name of the ship, it still took up 210 parking meters! :-P
