You had at one time as an avatar a picture of someone I presume is yourself, along with a decent-sized catfish.

If so: What's your favorite area river or lake for tying onto a big blue or channel cat?

Fishing has been a bit of a disappointment but it is cyclical. When water levels are low as has been the case up until the last couple of years, certain areas that might usually not be so great are suddenly hot. Following lake topo maps has shown that access by foot to areas of water that are closer to the channels or streams that run along the bottom of a lake are easier to get to when the lake levels are low. This is also the time to note what is exposed to air and what it looks like. Will fish congregate there when the water levels eventually rise? Then there man made features such as bridge abutments and damns.

If you are in an area and the fish are just not biting, the fish are probably somewhere else. If you see small panfish from the shore to 30 feet out, there are probably not any larger fish in the area otherwise the small panfish would be hugging the shore.

So, there is no one real spot, it depends on the variables.

Ummmm, regional dialect creates FAIL again....... the title of this thread, in Charles' and my area, would bring forth mental pictures of Charles seated on a freakishly over-sized vagina rather than on a settee.

They can vary in size but it's usually genetic.

Only in person. Then you must weigh the situation. I've been told that I needed to leave a certain event or venue because *** **** was going to his truck to get his hunting rifle. Others have said things defending murdering liberals implying that no judge in the land would convict them. Even over something like carrying a camera.

A very amusing ragchew on 75 this AM. One of my local buddies who is always complaining about Obama was gently dissected by another gent who basically helped him discover that except for the gun issue, he's really more of a Democrat.

Point by point... what has the Republican Party done for you? It was epic, lulzy, and nobody got too mad.

Both parties suck, but there is a strong current of Democrats (last 70 years or so) being for the common man...
And if you read and study history, it's not a lie. It's messy, but true.

Alas, the presence of big money in campaigns has been shifting the balance somewhat. It is a worrisome tendency.

In my case, consider the cost of keeping a job that pays $8 - $10/hr before taxes vs transportation costs. My last job paid $17/hr before taxes. This helped offset the cost of fuel but the environment was sick, mind games and our VP over manufacturing was Sarah Palin before Sarah Palin was cool. Long story there. I was let go as were several others who had been with the company a long time or reached top pay. Their overhead for electricity alone was $25K/month because of the big new building they had custom built. Nothing about the big new building did anything what so ever to improve production, but, they fully expected to double output using the same number of machines and the same methods and materials. That's what they told the shareholders. The real reason, in my mind, was so that they would have their pretty new executive center. In an environment where we are competing directly with Chinese imports, the worst thing they could have done at this time was to build a new giant box building with double the overhead. Push push push and now they have a giant warehouse full of finished product that just takes up room.

I was one of the outspoken ones. Nobody gave me the memo that said that you're not supposed to know more about the business than the plant manger. I did learn though, long ago, that when the Sarah Palin type VP got there in 2001 that if she asked for ideas, it is best to keep your mouth shut or she would tear you a new one. We all knew why she was there and after 9 years she still plods forward, head first with the same ideas and attitudes that keep them in the developmental dark ages. I left that company in 2003 and was asked to come back in 2007. That was a big mistake and I realized it 3 months in. Although I left the kayak plant under good terms, they would not rehire me because of new policies, one of which involved having an "arrest record." Speeding ticket. Yes, they sometimes arrest you for speeding in SC. I can understand some of these policies to a certain degree if they only go back 7 to 10 years but now it goes back to ... forever. No chance for redemption in the United States.

It has it's good and bad. A house in the mountains, in or near Asheville NC would be great. A great antenna location too. Good elevation.
It also is very telling that local conservatives can't stand Asheville.
