I guess if they were rich and white, we would have heard about this a lot sooner.

The boys survived on coconuts and rainwater and by slaughtering a seagull they managed to catch while bobbing along in their tiny tin dinghy. Their families held funerals for them weeks ago, after a massive search by sea and air failed to find them, the Sydney Morning Herald reported (http://www.smh.com.au/world/boys-alive-after-50-days-adrift-in-pacific-20101125-188lc.html).

Amazing story actually. They would have died pretty soon since they started drinking seawater around day 48.

That's a pretty cool story, but crazy kids and their adventures!

I am happy they were rescued. I would never do that. I went on one of those Carnival cruises. I was scared once we left sight of the coastline. That big ship was very tiny out there in the middle of nowhere. I have flown over the ocean several times, but I will never take a ship across the Atlantic. Those boys are crazy, but braver than I will ever be.

Since the engine room fire, the fuel pumps did not work and so both generators shut down later that day.
With that gone, everything shut down.
Can you just imagine, no AC or running water, or fresh food?
OMG! this was supposed to be the vacation of a lifetime! And so it is, you will never forget this chit for the rest of your life! ;)

They brought those with them.

It took a couple of big coconuts to start out.

Where does it say that? Coconuts float, that's how they propagate island to island. The real lucky trick was catching the seagull.

I dunno--them coconuts can be wily. And you got to be sure you make a clean shot because the last thing you want is for one to go rogue on you.

Hello.

Coconuts will float in the ocean and are not hard to catch.

I just saw the NBC news report on those boys. They revealed the mission of the journey was to impress some girls. Letting the little head do the thinking always has a bad outcome. I bet they will never eat coconuts again.:yuck:
