View Full Version : Finally Got My Tobacco

A while back someone posted a link to a company that was providing samples of their pipe tobacco. Well, I finally got my tobacco. A nice sized tin of it too. The mixture they sent me is "maple - rum" flavour. That shouldn't be too bad. Much better than cherry.

I didn't open it yet so I can't tell what types of tobacco's comprise the blend. My guess is a Burley Cavendish mixture with perhaps a hint of Latekia. I don;t want to open it until I'm ready to smoke a bowl. Figure I'll preserve the freshness till I'm ready to give it a try.

Got mine today. It is labeled "Great Outdoors" . I will make my partner tube cigs with it. Free is free, thanks for the link Mike.

Haven't smoked any yet but The tobacco is aromatic. Has a sweet vanilla / maple flavour. Seems to be mostly Cavendish and is lacking in the dark Latekia. In any event the real acid test will be when I smoke a bowl in a nice piece of briar or clay.

When done right, they are very smooth. Low tar, and low nicotine, so "healthier", be that as it may. It's a challenge to smoke one "right" though. The right heat, and the right water temperature are critical. Much like a pipe, where lighting it is everything.

I got mine Monday.
Sutliff Tobacco Blend No. 5. I requested an English type blend,and am not disappointed.
It's very much like Dunhill Early Morning Pipe.
I tried a bowl last night,and like it very much.
I'll probably order some.

That is what I got as well. Pretty good stuff, nice for a casual smoke.

If I can find my pipe I'll give it a try. However, I don't want to take up regular pipe smoking. Chewing tobacco is enough.
