It's probably something ultra-top secret from Vandenburg AFB. It's not all that uncommon.

I heard that the women folk in that tribe specialize in beer production.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Riki Ellison, Founder and Chairman of the Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance (MDAA), www.missiledefenseadvocacy.org, has commented on the results of the recent airborne laser test bed missile test out at Point Mugu, California last week where the laser failed to switch on. Ellison is one of the foremost lay experts in the field of missile defense in the world. His comments include the following:

"Last week, in the skies off Point Mugu, California, a 747 equipped with solid state lasers successfully tracked and targeted at the speed of light a short-range ballistic missile target launched from a sea-based barge; however it failed to switch on and engage its megawatt class lethal chemical laser to destroy the boosting missile.

"This marks the second time out of five attempts to engage the chemical laser of the Airborne Laser Test Bed (ALTB) this year that the lethal megawatt chemical laser was turned off automatically for safety reasons or was not switched on when electronically signaled to do so.

Stimulus, hmmm? The dirty mind's imagination is just getting started...

In the meantime, has anyone contacted the West Coast Avengers, SHIELD, or the Justice League? You know how those superhero types are when they're fighting supervillians, and these things happen...

I've been in contact with Dr. Claw and M.A.D. They are not claiming responsibility on this one.

Cor, we all know the US military will never admit to failure, not even the Russians in Afghanistan.

M.A.D. had nothing to do with it. The inspector said "go go gadget rocket" and things got a little out of hand, as usual.

I watched some show about lasers used to destroy missiles and other targets a few weeks ago and that's some scary shit. They demonstrated how a laser could be used from ship to ship to pretty much vaporize in an instant, anyone standing on the deck of another ship and burn a hole right through the hull. Think about this. Never before has there been a weapon that travels at the speed of light. You're dead or maimed in an instant, no warning, no whistles, no propeller drone, no sonic boom, no bang, no nothing. You're dead literally as fast as you can switch on a light, from miles away if necessary.

There are pocket lasers capable of shining a beam many. many, many , many miles. They can burn holes in objects at relatively close range. No major surprise that military grade lasers can burn at many many miles. Yet they can fix dellicate organs in the human body with incredible precision. The laser, an incredible device.

Well, we should shut it down immediately. It's being used by illegal aliens, just like this missle.

Hell, gotta go, what's wrong with this exit? Beats hell out of three pounds of hot shrapnel in your guts and lying there powerless on a searing, hot deck wondering if you will fry alive or the loss of blood or of consciousness from pain will overcome you before septicemia from ruptured intestines eventually claims you.

I vote for the laser.

Which, of course, is useless against a submarine...or a long-range, high-speed torpedo.

Colonel Sanders: Prepare ship for light speed.
Dark Helmet: No, no, no. Light speed is too slow!
Colonel Sanders: Light speed too slow?
Dark Helmet: Yes. We're going to have to go right to...Ludicrous speed.
Colonel Sanders: Ludicrous speed? Sir, we've never gone that fast before...I don't know if the ship can take it.
Dark Helmet: What's the matter, Colonel Sanders? Chicken?
