James Bond sold his ride...but the window sticker would have caused heart failure! (http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-world/20101027/EU.Britain.James.Bond/)

Think of what a different world we would be living in today if they had gone with the Jaguar.

I've driven both a DB5 and an E-Type Jag. The DB5 was the better car but the Jag was a hell of a lot more fun.

Hello.

The tracking device caused the British some concern.
You see the British had a system of tracking where a transparency was mounted in a frame and X-Y axis was updated by a radio receiver.
They saw this and thought that the secret was out.
Ejection seats in an automobile have been done before this as well as machine guns and instant oil slick.
The flip up bullet resistant shield was something new, normally it is fixed mounted but now would be made of bullet resistant glass.
The only trouble? this would be too heavy for a small sports car.
Now a fixed .410 shotgun along the lines of a claymore would be installed, selector switch would allow rapid fire.

Some very affluent Mexican drug cartel members have had this type of thing done.

Four million and you still need a oil drip pan.

Cowthief, you do realize that half or more of the "Bond gadgets" don't actually work outside of what's needed for the FX department to start with, right? Or do you think that we all don't know that?

Joe Lucas--Inventor of Darkness!

Q: Why to the Brits drink their beer warm?

A: They have Lucas refrigerators.

Alas. She got out of the car very quickly the minute I opened the door.

Hello.

Yes, I am aware of this being fiction.
But some of it is now in the realms of reality.
Ejection seat? has since been done.
Bullet proof? yes.
Moving map display? would you like Garmin or Tom Tom?
A lot of what was fiction at the time is now very much with us.
That is why I posted links to actual sites for product you may buy now.
And, who knows, perhaps the James Bond flicks may have inspired the people who went on and built the working models.
But as I pointed out, a British sports car would not be the most ideal platform, Lucas electrics and all. ;)
