And win a prize. Or something.

It's used by Yaesu for peripheral connections to the FTM-10SR. I need a couple (both sexes; free-hanging type) to fabricate an extension for their control-head cable.

7-pin (not a mini-DIN) and threaded lock ring.

Easy. That's a "they've got you by the balls only available through yaesu" connector.

I'll just tell myself to make that a triple.

It looks like a connector for the cable between a video cable and a portable U-Matic videocassette recorder. But I'm dating myself. That's the rig I used when I first started doing electronic journalism for the Air Force.

I don't think it's as unobtainium as you might think, but might require a thorough Google search. Maybe it's here in this part of the catalog (http://www.tycoelectronics.com/catalog/feat/en/c/10574?BML=10576,17560,23645,17579,17764).

Not sure what to call yours. Hell, I didn't even know what to call the ones I had to find for some new (to me) PA equipment.
Seems like these locking connectors are all the rage everywhere.
This is the new fancy smancy replacement for the 1/4" phone plugs that served us so well for so long.
Don't ever remember having a plug just fall out of where I put it. :dunno:

It's not a Tyco, a Cannon or a Hirose. Or an EX-PRO.

Not finding it here, but it's the same connector the VX-8R uses for an external mic, if that broadens the search any.

Yes indeed. That cable is marketed for use with both the -10SR and the VX8.

I fired off an e-mail to Yaesu's customer support last evening. Not holding my breath but it sure would be nice to source a few of those.

That narrows it a bit - I doubt the connector is of Japanese or U.S. manufacture.

Hello.

I took a marine mic and plugged it into a VX-8R and it will mate but the connections are wrong.
This is where I got the designation information from, a remarketed marine radio, no further information.

Hello.

Japanese Defense Forces radio connector.
Pre-molded mic connector is around $35 US.
The Yaesu cable is about the same price.
That microphone I was playing with is around $120 to $130.
Amateur may not be built to the same standards as military but it is also a whole lot cheaper!
