It wasn't easy but I'll figure out a way to get these in sharper at some point in the future.

And of course the cats decided that they wanted attention when I'm trying to keep everything perfectly still.

I love pics at this phase of the moon... Looking at the craters on the edge of the terminator almost makes one feel as though they can actually see the mountains and ridges there.

I always did wonder what those radials coming out of the one crater are all about. Did an impact event actually crack the crust at one point?

That's where it was attached before it was plucked off the vine.

They are cats. That is their job.

I think they're patterns of ejecta--what was thrown out when the meteor struck. I'd recommend researching that a bit more before I went around telling other people, though.

How the hell did those tire tracks get there?

True. I was using the small 4MP camera.

Just finished shooting some myself with the new SX30. Check here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/21017459@N02/sets/72157625208669656/).

Somebody cue the Twilight Zone music....

Oh Cool!↑
Well, I had to go fiddle with it some more and created a more suitable tube and holder from cardboard tubes, electrical tape and rubber bands. I'm using a Meade ETX 60 and a small Nikon L4 pocket camera.

Twilight Music?

Wow. Really nice pics, both of you.

It's really interesting to note the difference in the angle, from Charles' POV on the east coast and Carls' POV from the west coast.

Huh? :wtf:

I thought Charles and I were on the same coast?

Ah duh. Sorry. I looked at the pics, then got up, washed some dishes, made sure my girls were getting ready for school and then came back to the thread to reply. For some reason I had it in my mind that KJ6BSO posted the other set.

So... The difference in angle must be because you guys took them at slightly different times or days? I never paid much attention to how much the angle varies.

Not sure about Charles, but mine were taken about 11:30 to midnight local time. I'm also at a different latitude and longitude. I'm sure that factors into the equation.

Wasn't me. We haven't been able to see the moon (or the sun, for that matter) since late last week. It's been feeling more like Seattle than San Diego here lately.

I'm thinking my first set was between 8:30 and 9pm EDT. Rough guess, about 40 degrees from zenith.
The second set was closer to 1AMand from my POV, was descending.
I'll double check tonight to see if the image is getting flipped in the scope. I've only ever used it for stargrazing.

I see that the gay guy on the right was late for the camera.

Different camera. Couldn't get it to focus in still mode and motion was only marginally better.

My entry in the moon shots...

This was taken a little before 8PM last Thursday. SX30, 1/200th of a second on a tripod. Cropped and sharpened a tad in PS.
Second shot is the 'hood at night.
