I have a 14 carat gold ring that is worth $160 according to the scrap gold value calculator (it weighs 6.4 grams)
I advertised it for $150 and am getting offers of $85. What gives?

They are hoping that you are desperate and will jump at anything.

Simple. They're hoping to sell it for $100 to the next schmuck.

Remember, like anything, what an item's worth and what it sells for are not neccesarily the same thing.

It's called a free market.

Fundamental Rule Numero Uno: Buy low; sell high.
