Always enjoyed that show and felt the same way the author did about the Pebbles and Bam-Bam spin-off.

Did realize Johnny Quest went back that far though? It was still in first runs on the Saturday Morning blitz when I was a carpet critter. Liked that one too.

H.R. Puff N' Stuff was a much heavier influence though. ;)

I barely remember seeing the 2 couples smoke. Fred was a very erotic character. The Flinstones was the first National tv program that showed the couple sleeping in a single bed. Charles is right about the program using the commercial sponsers products. Smoking Winstons was not the only ad, remember Pebbles HAD to drink Welches Grape Juice?

I LOVED Jonny Quest. Only cartoon opening I can remember with trombones as the lead instrument.

It was either Hanna or Barbera, I don't remember which one, who wrote the theme music for their cartoons. Jonny Quest, Wally Gator, Flintstones etc, all cool stuff.

Likewise. Most cartoons which came after are teh suck, with the exception of Star Trek: The Animated Series. Ran for one season. I HIGHLY recommend it on DVD.

I really enjoyed watching Hanna Barbera cartoons as a kid. If I remember right, The Flintstones were the first prime-time cartoon and the show was billed as being an Adult Cartoon. I always got time to stay up later on Fridays to watch it. My favorite of the bunch was The Jetsons, basically the premise was The Flintstones in the future, but it had it's own identity. Most of the music in the earlier cartoons seemed to be based on big-band type scores. Later in the mid-60s they started switching to other types...
