Here's a bunch. (http://www.cooks.com/rec/search/0,1-0,kelp,FF.html)

Mmmmmm, yummy kelp. They harvest a lot of it off the coast here.

Kelp with abalone is OK, but kelp with sea otter chops is better. Grill 'em! :yum:

Sea otter steaks go great with humpback whale meat. And the pelts make nice hats, too.

You read my mind Charles...

And there's always a little dash of dashi, for soup.

Why does this thread remind me of a very nervous man, with a very overbearing mother-in-law, trying to make a living selling canned seaweed?

Raw fish... I prefer it cooked.

I remember one day I was on a long island beach. There was a lot of seaweed coming in on the waves and this California style beach-hippie dude comes walking down the beach and comes up to me and starts talking to me. he tells me that that seaweed makes for good eating. great nutrition, great in salads, and good cooked, in soups, etc. So I tried some. good stuff. Cooked properly with the right flavoring it's pretty nice. I've been turned on to seaweed ever since.

Ah, see, sushi is not necessarily raw fish. You're thinking of sashimi. Sushi sometimes contains raw fish but often does not. In fact, it's often completely vegetarian.

You da man, Charles.

Personally, I'll eat raw tuna all day long if I have the opportunity. Dee-lish.

Raw tuna, salmon, various roe, scallops, prawns, (they call them that) octopus, squid, unagi and futomaki.
Seaweed salad with a little ginger dressing. John, go to a reputable sushi place and order a seaweed salad. Amazing!
Maybe have some roe as well. Wasabi tobiko is something I think you would enjoy. It explores some extremes for an extreme kind of guy such as yourself.

Years ago I took this young pretty secretary out to lunch and she ordered Oysters and then asked me if I felt seafood was erotic.

Years ago, it has to be about 52 since I am 60, my Granddad was all excited one summer day. He was from New York State originally, but he and Grandma had long before moved to South Dakota. Anyway, I was down there visiting, and he said "Grandson, we have to go down to the meat market, they have some Blue Point Oysters down there." So, we did. And he bought a pint in a little take-out box and brought them home, sat down at the kitchen table, and fished one out and put it in his mouth and ate the damn thing...and he said "Grandson, that's just great...it's just like a hunk of snot going down." I think I was eight at the time. I got up from the table and ran out of the kitchen. I don't know why he got them, maybe the old rumor was true, and he wanted get frisky with Grandma or something. But years and years later, I did get some Blue Points (to make home-made Oyster stew) and thought of long-gone Granddad...and ate one. The flavor wasn't bad, but the texture, was, well, like snot. I like my Blue Points in stew, thank you.
