Ugh...

I had this conversation with a fellow here at work about the difference between ionizing and non-ionizing radiation... Had to explain the differences, and how RF is non-ionizing radiation, and for all intents and purposes, safe to be around.

But, as an aside, those kids looks miserable. The moms should be more concerned about why their kids are depressed, rather than cell phone towers.

2 options , I reckon . Go with microcell service , distributed on utility poles throughout the community , or , shut down service to the town in question , 'til the ordinance is repealed . In reality , it'll be a court and PR fight . If they really want to see the true colors , and bust the excuses , put 'em IN the churches , using antennas hidden in a steeple , like many communities do .

Oh the lulz... I've had to deal with so much NIMBY crap with towers over the years. It's ridiculous. People are retarded. More later...

They want decent coverage but they also want to be rid of all those transmitters that appear "in front of our homes overnight" (their emphasis), and "emit radiation 800 feet in every direction".

They want to have their cake and eat it to.

Schmucks.

I think the cell company should just shut it all off in that town for a few days and see how much they don't want towers after that.

Towers are quite attractive examples of RF sculpture.

We've got a number of these around here:

It's surprising how well they work to camouflage the fact that they're actually cell phone towers.

No, I don't have to love 'em. I'd prefer to wipe them from the face of the planet for the knuckle-dragging idiots they are.

I stand corrected; we do have palms, one on each hand, in fact.

(Purportedly clever inuendoes regarding masturbation will be taken as read at this time to avoid bandwidth waste.)

But our palm trees, both actual and simulated, prefer to live indoors, tended by a suitable extensive staff.

RR on the masturbation innuendo, I purposely avoided the temptation.

Around here, palms literally grow like weeds. I had one take root in my front yard that I had to dig out after a couple of years. There is only one species native to the area, though; the rest have been imported.

I don't have a picture of it (Sorry Barkeep, difficult to do when you're driving down an Interstate in traffic), but along the Pa Turnpike slightly north of Philadelphia, near the Amtrak (nee PRR) main line, there is a tall (~100 ') cell tower that is disguised as a pine tree.

As a certain movie character could put it, they disguised... poorly.

Seeing that photo makes me wonder if someone simply, ah, imported a "palm" tree and then tried to change the "palm" leaves to something more suited to the area.

We saw that when in EPA a couple years ago.

We have tons of those palm tree towers around here, and considering the amount of Nazi HOA's around here as well, it seems like a good idea...i just have to find a species of palm tree that i can quickly reference people too that looks like a 40m monobander.

I don't know about anyone else but I think making it look like a tree is growing out of the roof is uglier than
a bare metal tower. Even from the ground up if it is 40 feet taller than trees that have been there for a
hundred years, to me, it looks more out of place than a tower.

Since when are the advancements and accomplishments of man (and/or woman) so terrible that we should hide them?

Just put the thing up and if they complain tell them you thought they would like it out in
the open better than hidden up their ass.
