So the Phillies come into the bottom of the 9th down 6 to 3 against the Nationals. You almost know what's going to happen.

What did you expect? The Nats are as bad as the Pirates. At least THEIR ownership is doing something about it and practicing what they preach.

I can relate. The Padres have imploded as well. Of course, all us Friars Fans were expecting that.

The Devil would probably get his quota for the rest of the decade if the Pirates ever did anywhere near as well as the Padres did this year.

Well, the Pirates have won more World Series championships than the Padres have won World Series games. No major league San Diego sports franchise in any sport (MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA) has ever won a championship.

The last time the Pirates had a winning season, my stepson wasn't a teenager yet, and he'll be 30 in 2011. My daughter has never seen anything but futility; the closest was the "Phreak Show" year that they ALMOST won the division, but finished second -- with a losing record, of course -- and she doesn't remember it at all, since she was all of 3 at the time.

At least I grew up a Yankee fan, but I dare not mention that in the house, not being married to a Pirate fanatic...

should have stayed a yankee fan man

Who said I stopped? Just because I married a Pirate fanatic?

Heck, she went to Pitt (as did her ex and most of her family) and I went to Penn State. What's Yankees/Pirates compared to that?

This is my favorite time of year. The Yankees make it into the playoffs again and the Red Sux get eliminated again. Yet again. I cannot possibly say how great it feels to see yet another baseball season come to it's traditional end especially for the AL East. :snicker:

Especially for us if the Phillies stay as hot as they are now. 10 in a row, 6 games up on Atlanta after the sweep. Magic number is 4.

I'm no Phillies fan, but anyone who knocks Bobby Cox & the Braves out of the playoffs is OK with me.

Yeah, but the Braves will choke in the playoffs. They always do. Even the Padres beat them.

Unfortunately, the possibility exists.

Phillies win 11th in a row, magic number now 2. They are 93-61, which is the best record in Major League Baseball.

There is nothing (save a roll in the sack) that beats watching the Red Sux FAIL! for another season. May they play in rat infested Fenway for another century.

After Bucky F*cking Dent, No, No Nannette (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Frazee) has to be the worst thing you can say to a Red Sux fan. There was even a time when the Yankees owned Fenway (http://books.google.com/books?id=1jgEtGJQ040C&pg=PA75&lpg=PA75&dq=yankees+own+fenway+park&source=bl&ots=aol4T-6VOD&sig=0VB8Rt1xmV1ZSdZiH9WVXz25EGM&hl=en&ei=N8CdTPqOBoT68AbsmbHrAg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CCcQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=yankees%20own%20fenway%20park&f=false). Can't beat that one.
