Pat MHZ is indeed here and was complaining that the timing of the grand prize drawing conflicted with his speaking engagement. He's worried that people are going to leave to attend the drawing. I told him he just needed to make his speech compelling enough to hold people's interest and he will have no problem.

I never had a problem with the guy before but now I'm getting an idea of why some folks around here don't like him. Definitely some bitchy tendencies.

Funny you mention that... There's the three or so sites I found, including an old MySpace account... Sue still denied these other sites were her, even though pictures and email addresses linked her to them. Then... Actually, he's got a squeeze-bulb bicycle horn that he honked whenever someone came up and told him that he'd just passed a license exam (there was a VE session running all day). One time when he had his back turned, I reached over and honked the horn. He jumped, then laughed. I'd just met him a few days ago when he was at the ARC giving a talk so he knew who I was.

Earlier this evening I posted a statement suggesting a superficial similarity of appearance between WA6MHZ and AF6LJ. After a couple of hours of reflection, I have concluded that it was unfair and thus improper for me to have done so, for the following reasons:

1. AF6LJ has never shown any hostility toward me directly, and thus did not deserve to receive a volley from my direction. I know that over a protracted period of time Sue has antagonized the members here to an exceptional degree, and I do not condone such behavior, but it was not my place to jump in. I cannot begin to imagine the emotional strains a latent TS must undergo or the challenges they must overcome to effect the change, but they must be substantial, expensive, and intimidating to comprehend. The discomfort of being in a man's body, possibly coupled with prior or concurrent emotional stress, may lead her to view the transition from male to female as an escape, and she would fight hard to prevent the past from interfering with her hopes for the future. To forcefully out her or use her appearance to deny her the release she seeks might be cruel, but I haven't thought that through to the end yet.

2. I fear that my post may also have been unfair to WA6MHZ, for he too has shown me no malice, and is only a peripheral player in the Sue drama. While it is true that I occasionally find his Zed diatribes strained and occasionally boring, I find myself worrying about him more than despising him. And I think he's a fundamentally friendly soul. He made a big noise about going to Dayton, but then spent time there helping people build stuff. He loves the technology, something increasingly rare in the hobby. And you can bet the farm he knows all about AF6LJ and still opened his home to her and behaved cordially. He may need a swift kick in the ass to straighten out his priorities, but I'd leave his heart alone.

3. My biggest regret is that I brought the Zed here to the Island with my post. What happens on the Zed should stay on the Zed, especially the wacky stuff. If the Island is going to be a real alternative to the Zed, then we're going to have to let them go their own way while we go ours.

OK, mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. End of self-flagellation.

Yeah, well if that's Sue's problem then maybe Sue should stop being such a twat when it comes to the way she treats people who have endured the same thing Sue has. But no, all Sue does is deny Sue's history and talk shit about other T's and call them derogatory, hurtful names, all the while claiming not to be what Sue hates so much. That is what is so disgusting about Sue. If Sue gets shat on it's because Sue wholly deserves it. A very small part of me feels sorry for Sue, but most of me knows damn well that whatever Sue gets, Sue deserves. So to say "Oh, I feel bad for Sue because of what Sue has had to endure as a TS..." I have a separate pair of sunglasses for the evening when the sun is going down. The bottom half is clear but the reflective coating helps cover that from the front a bit. They are great for riding when it's starting to get dark.
Last Friday evening we were walking the main drag in downtown just for the exercise. A group of young boys were singling people out whom they thought needed religion. I was carrying my camera and tripod but still had my glasses on. A young boy/man walked right up to me and felt that i needed to know about Jesus and proceeded to attempt handing me portable literature. Out of nowhere, I just growled at him.
