I'm itching to try out the mic.

Using a Shure VP64 and a Valley 400 processor. :)

Will you still be on the air at 11:00 EDT? I can't get out to the shack until then.

You should hear it on an antenna that's up 60 feet. It's s8 here, pushing s9.

KG4CGC

N2CHX
09-12-2010, 09:40 PM
OK... Signal's a little weak on 75. Try 40?

NQ6U
09-12-2010, 09:44 PM
40 would be better for me. Pick a freq.

N2CHX
09-12-2010, 09:48 PM

Just checked it against a digital receiver. I'm on freq. Now it sounds like there's a shortwave station on there.

Seems like you torqued someone off, Carl. Thought I hear someone bitching.

I heard Charles... I think I had some RF getting into my processor.

N2CHX
09-12-2010, 10:20 PM
:( Well this is frustrating.

KG4CGC
09-12-2010, 10:22 PM
Kelli I could hear you but it just was not intelligible. And Carl, you boomed in and then nothing.
The band is shifting.

Yeah, after we'd been on the freq for a while, some guy came on about 1KHz away and was causing me some QRM. Then he had gall to bitch at me. Typical BS.

I definitely want to put up the New & Improved antenna this week.

N2CHX
09-12-2010, 10:32 PM
I think I had some RF getting in to the processor and I definitely need a beefier power supply. Unfortunately no money for it right now. The rig works great on PSK but trying to push over 50 watts on SSB just isn't happening.

I don't think I was getting out more than 80W max of 40m and somewhere between 60 and 75W on 80m.
But I understand what you're saying.

Yeah but my antenna is short and also located at about 15 feet off the ground -- UNDER power lines.

I need to bite the bullet and put something up running from the chimney to the trees in back. That would gain me about 20 feet in height.

Oh BOOM! Houston is now coming in very strong.
I was going to switch bands anyway.

Well, Jim, it was fun almost talking to you and Charles. Kelli, your signal did get out here to the Left Coast even with your less than optimal antenna. I could hear you but couldn't quite make out what you were saying. Of course, my antenna is pretty crappy too--a G5RV strung between two trees that's only about 30' up.

Maybe next time I should use the amp? :snicker:

Sure. We could say we were working half-simplex... :chin:
