You must spend a fortune on feed...

Nifty.

You need more diversity though. Too many blue birds -- are the different bird types territorial?

You must spend a fortune on feed...It's not too bad. Every day I clean the birdhouse, sweep up the loose seed from my pigeons inside the building , and toss it out to the feral pigeons. A few years ago there were only a few. Looks like the word got out.

are the different bird types territorial? Not really, the biggest (pigeons) get to eat first. They are like two legged vacuum cleaners. :-D

So, you got feral pigeons helping you clean up?

That's pretty awesome, when you think about it. :snicker:

See that George. it's just like welfare. Once you give a freebee out to a few more and more start showing up for a handout. :)

Like that Andre Bauer fellow who said that welfare is like feeding stray animals? They breed and make more welfare recipients?

I actually saw one of those guys take out a pigeon in downtown San Francisco. It looked like an explosion in a pillow factory.

Maybe on "Mouse Day?"

We have some red tails around , they get a couple of pigeons each year. They have to catch the pigeons off guard on the ground , or sitting in a tree. In the air the pigeons are too fast and maneuverable for the hawks.

They probably spread the word by carrier pigeon.

Sorry, but when I see that picture, I think of the late Bill Burns of KDKA, and of one of Tom Lehrer's most loved tunes, Poisoning Pigeons in the Park.

That's nice to have new friends in for lunch. Do you carefully plan the meals; or just wing it?
