Anyone know anything about these? Basically a big AM/FM transistor radio with good sound and a hot AM receiver (for BCB-DX).

I'm kinda looking for a decent, cheap "table radio" and heard good things about this radio years ago. They're no longer made, but seem plentiful on the used market. Any version better than the others? Better idea for a radio?

What are you looking for in a receiver - portability, selectivity?

Is AM BCB DX the primary mission?

Don't know anything about them myself but I found this site (http://mysite.verizon.net/vze20h45/radio/superadio/gesr_faq.html) which has some info that might be useful.

Thinking about a "cabin radio." Sounding good without being huge would be primary. It'd be a kick if it was good at BCB-DX, tho.

Interesting. Thanks! That pretty much echoes what I'd heard.

The superadio II is the best according to guru W7NPN.

We have an extra one lying around here, which I'll send to you when I find it, Rob. It might take a few weeks.

I had one of the earlier models, it quit working when it slid off the roof.

Sounds like a defective unit to me. Did you make a warranty claim on it?

He could have pasted a Craftsman sticker on it. No questions asked...

I think the old Superadio III is marketed under the RCA label. At least it was 5 or 6 years ago.

First hit: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&rlz=&q=rca+superadio&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=7655752449510561542&ei=SLaFTLvUI4KBlAf53uSyDw&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CCUQ8wIwAA#

It is currrently marketed by RCA but they were owned by GE.

This is a sampling of the results on the web. They run in the $50 range. (http://www.google.com/products/catalog?client=safari&rls=en&q=super+radio&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=7655752449510561542&ei=gNuFTPTNMsGBlAfpxN2RDg&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CCgQ8wIwAg#)

Radio Shack used to have the same radio under their own name. This is what they have now. "The Extreme Range Radio" (http://www.radioshack.com/graphics/uc/rsk/Support/ProductManuals/1200589_PM_EN.pdf) Runs about $50.
