This is really awesome . A large scale radio controlled version of an Mi 24 helicopter powered by an actual jet turbine engine. . and a hefty price tagto boot. You can almost smell the kerosene burning. Notice the scale appearance and the realism in sound and operation. Not exactly your typical backyard or schoolyard RC model.

True. I have been noticing that Europeans go for these sorts of hobbies in a bigger way than many of us Americans. I guess they must be doing something right if they can afford to indulge and enjoy passing their time with stuff like this. But then again, here in the states, splurging on expensive hobbies could mean having to do without health care.

Well, if I had the time and the Euros I'd be out there doing the same thing.

It takes a bit of getting used to. While there have been accidents they are very far and few between. Most accidents were the results of not adhering to the basic safety rules, i.e. carelessness. Most pilots are AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) members and carry liability insurance. Fortunately when the AMA safety guidelines are properly followed the chances of any accidents are almost negligible. as a result the hobby enjoys a very good safety record.

P.S. Most good pilots will sacrifice and crash their aircraft in an emergency rather than compromise the safety of the spectators.

I'm gonna be flying up in the Catskills tomorrow, weather permitting, I'm sure they'll be plenty of insects ready to attack, Ah, the joys of summer.

P.S. I'll be testing an onboard GPS stabilization and a telemetry system.

Hello.

The amazing thing is that the cost of a surplus Bell 47 was Less than the cost of that thing, even after adjusting for inflation!
