I recently acquired a Shure Bros. 708a Stratoliner crystal mic on a s36 base. I believe the impedance would be about 50K ohms and I was wondering if I should try a basic restore job or just try to sell it? I have yet to test the crystal element but it appears to be in clean, untouched shape, untested by me thus far.
What would you guys do with such a mic? I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Test it, if the original element is good, you may get more for it. Unless it's broken, I wouldn't do any restoration but a gentle cleaning. Then take it to the Antique Road Show.
P.S. Don't sell to any one in France. ;)

If I wanted to drop the impedance, could I simply put a resistor across the wires and be good to go easy peasy?
