SWDW (Same Whine Different Weekend)

...you know, we could be real smartasses and open the thread right now. Make the first post a compilation of the usual kvetching... preface it by saying that we thought we'd be efficient and save time by condensing all the whining into this one post now & get it out of the way.

Nah.

Let em bitch !!

It keeps their blood pumping and boiling.
We should charge them about $50 each for
making their blood boil and purifying their system.

The best part of going to QRZ is when you stop going to QRZ because it feels so good.

Don't think I'm not kicking myself for that. I'd have been better off singing to a pig. I'd have felt better about it and the pig would have been more receptive to it.

Sorry I missed all the fun - was out riding fast sportbikes and generally raising Cain this weekend

A great big wave-out to visitors from St. Else-Wheres who feel that no one should DARE operate on "their" private channels.

Hey boys - the 11M gang misses you. Now go on back there, say "Hi" to Rubber Duck and Ratchet Jaw...and try to be big fish in a little pond, m'kay?

Yet KB9MJR gets away with his night soil and male ox comment. (Of course, he was right about what he said about KB3UOM's utterly stupid comment, but that's beside the point)

Just getting caught up with the (now closed) thread in question... I see the real reasons why it was closed:

(1) N0SYA mentioned The Forbidden Frequency, 14.275 MHz
(2) M6IBM decided to mock... this very thread, thus providing a link The Scary And Unmentionable Web Site of Vermin, as decreed by She Whose Gender Must Not Be Mocked

Do any of these turkeys actually operate? I know they say the do, but do they?

I suspect they try, but nobody can hear them.

<Yoda>Pi$$-weak stations they be. Much learning to do, they have.</Yoda>ah, I see. It's a bit of Zen-like wisdom (or somebody's, I need more coffee to figure that out...)

It is easier to curse the contesters than to improve one's own station.

They just blame it on the "contesters" who operate, apparently, every weekend. Which is the only time any ham can ever get on the air. Can't be their stations, because they have a G5RV 10 ft. off the ground, fed with RG-59 with a 1000 ft run, complete with air-balun at the feed point and entry point, using Radio Shack PL-259's...

I fucking can't stand those anti-contest threads. Sure, I'm not a contester. And if I can't get in edgewise because of my piss-poor antenna system that makes the cut during normal times, I just switch what I'm doing. Lot's more to ham radio than HF. Hell, there's even WARC bands, so I guess these guys don't have rigs that can TX on WARC bands.

I offered to help one of them add the WARC bands to his equipment; even ponied up the required crystals for free. His excuse for not doing so? "Well, that would be project #239..."

Seems to have enough time to bitch about contesting but no time to investigate alternatives.

:wall:

Yep, no time for projects when you can bitch on the internet about a problem you have the full ability to resolve :wall:

These are the same people who say,"If you're hooking your computer up to your radio, get out of ham radio and go play on the internet" :wall:
It's called progress, chief. You can't just bang away at a morse key and think that's all ham radio is about, you tool!"

How do you find the Zedder on a contest weekend??

Just listen for someone calling CQ Contest on 27.025 AM.:-P:muhahaha:

I've called CQ there for years, as a "radio check". Brings instant hate and howling carriers. Lulzy.

"...the handle here is Stinger, because I'm a little prick".

Attitude and self deprecation all at once. How the hell else are you gonna start a conversation in an atmosphere like CB radio?
