One of the big differences is noise .The Hondas are really quiet . You may have to dig to find the noise specs on some brands , but few , if any , are as quiet as the Honda . That can make a big difference to some users , less to others .

+1 on the Honda. There are a LOT of folks I know (ham and non-ham alike) who own them and are quite satisfied...

I can attest for Honda products although not the generators, change the oil and put gas in it. That's about as far as maint. will go unless you like to get in there and tinker. Thing is, at that point you will realize that Honda has already engineered the schistosomiasis out of it.

If you have the cash...Honda gensets. VERY quiet and VERY expensive. And the smaller ones can be synced together.

Otherwise. I have a troybuilt. noisy but does the job.
