Received from Bob via email a couple of weeks ago to share with everyone:

This is an entirely new project I started 2 weeks ago...This is a simple
air cooled single band 40 meter amplifier using 2 x GI-6B Russian
triodes....I finished the project this morning and all functions tested,
the amplifier runs beautifully..

This simple amplifier is first of a series of single band purpose built
units I am constructing to use up some surplus components....There is
around 75 hours of construction work in this job but I am very happy
with the outcome...It happily puts out 700 watts of carrier with 35
watts of drive which is around 13db of gain, not bad for Russian surplus
cold war tubes which only cost $25 each....

Amazing how busy Bob is building these amplifiers! I also have pics from his latest project, a water cooled 20/40m amp - will post soon!

Very sweet indeed. Not unlike some of the Heathkit SB200 and SB220 conversions I have seen which some might consider blasphemy, but I would consider them a very creative way of making a familiar package last into the 21st century for a very long time indeed.

Kudos to Bob!
