AF1 will be landing circa 1230EST here in Buffalo. I'm pretty sure I can get a "one wheel up" pic from outside of the fence line here.

So, I removed all the antennas from my van, and will be trying to get a pic. Leaving my reflector vest, handgun, and 9 ht's at home. Just going to have a camera.

So, just a warning, in case you read about me in the news. All the radios, my ham license, and everything else left at home.

I wont be making any bad news for hams at least :) And if I get a decent pic, I'll post it up here.

You gonna wear some clothing worthy of ethnic profiling?

I was actually considering it. But, since I want to successfully get the picture, decided against it :P

That is absolutely hilarious.
Seriously, we'd defend you over yonder till the threads were deleted .
Get caught with the vest...you're on your own bro.

Chester Engineers, a former employer, used to be housed in an office park that overlooked (from the other side of the interstate) the Air Force base next to Greater Pittsburgh International Airport. During the Clinton years, we saw AF 1 land a handful of times.

One time, the plane was immediately hustled out of sight behind some of the buildings. Reason why? Some of the maintenance people employed by the landlord wanted a good look at the plane, so they went up on the roof. They were observed, and the FBI sent people to arrest & detain them. They found this out when the management office called them on their HT's to unlock the roof & let the FBI up to arrest... themselves as it turned out.

They didn't do anything wrong, they didn't violate any laws, but they got grilled by the FBI for several hours for watching the plane land without official authorization to be on a (privately owned) roof.

Last year, during the AFL-CIO convention, The Big O came to town. One of our account executives, Fred Zinger (yes, that is his name) went up on the rooftop deck to watch the limo pull in -- we're located next door to the convention center. He was spotted, and the Secret Service & Pittsburgh Police stormed the building; two cops went up to the roof to "escort" him downstairs for a private "briefing." Of course, once that happened, an email went out to the entire building to stay off the roof and don't use the front door while the O was next door. And we had two serious looking men in black suits, sun glasses, and ear pieces stationed in front of the building until the O left.

During the G-20 summit last fall, we were smack dab in the middle of the highest security zone, the convention center being on one side, and two doors down on the other, the Pittsburgh CAPA school (think of the school in the movie Fame), where Mrs. Big O was going to be entertaining while the Big O schmoozed in the center. We relocated out of downtown for two days. I got paid to work from home for one of them, of course, the bands weren't open that day...

I was on the wrong end of Runway 5. And, to boot, my real camera died. So, all I got were cell pics. One of them came out Ok, and later tonight I'll look at them all, and post any decent ones I got :)

I hope the rumors of your camera's death were greatly exaggerated. I hope it is just a battery issue.
